    Well, color me impressed.

All 78 episodes on 2 discs, the translation is just as solid as the Hulu version, the subtitles are on by default, and they even translated the mid-episode character cards.

Well, because there was no TYT this week...

So I've been busy away from ponies... Again...

With my quest/race to get a Rainbow S on all of Freedom Planet 2's stages, my creativity lit up like a bonfire again, and I started crafting an alternate ending of sorts for the past week.

That story is now complete, and posted in its entirety over on AO3.

Make Your Mark Initial Impressions · 9:27pm May 26th, 2022

So, this was pretty much the definition of "okay".

The new cast is definitely still learning their roles. Hope things become better as time goes on. This special was certainly Zipp's moment. Izzy in the movie was the perfect blend of serious and funny, but here she veers just a little too close to Pinkie Pie. Hitch was just... Off, somehow.

Animation budget definitely took a hit. There was like... About ten ponies attending the concert.

Runtime was pretty damaging; the pacing for this special was definitely way too fast. Bumping it up to 60 minutes probably would have worked wonders. For as much as they talked about it, we didn't even get to hear the "Maretime Bay Day" song.

I'm glad they seem to be slowly moving in the direction of connecting some dots to G4, but things will definitely have to get more interesting than "get along or the world will literally end."

All in all, I feel this was the weakest entry to G5 so far. The first comic (part 1 of 4) came pretty strong out of the gate, and Tell Your Tale is better at pacing and better matches the characters so far.

Here's hoping the game is decent.

I mean it wasn't too bad but it didn't have a good start either especially the movie so it's going to take awhile for the show to get at least better I'm going to try to ignore the low quality animation but I want to give the show a chance how far it will go

Yeah I will admit some of the lines can be very cheesy just try to be hip with the audience and yeah it did felt like some of the characters were pretty off cuz don't forget they tried to Canon tell your Tale which it was true and it's going to be silly I'll probably have to get used to it

I was really hoping we were going to see how the Crystal Brighthouse come along.

Like, was it magic, or did Sunny get a fat check from CanterLogic for damages to her home?

I find it interesting that "Tell Your Tale" is actually canon instead of just being something to tide people over until "Make Your Mark" comes out in full. I just hope that doesn't mean they use "Tell Your Tale" as a crutch.

I think this special being okay is because it was written like a chapter book, which is how G. M. Berrow tended to write her G4 episodes. Of all the writers to bring back from G4 to kick off G5, why her? Was she the only one available?

I enjoyed it as well and do agree it was ok. And tbt I wish Hasbro didn't replace the cast we got for the movie as those the actors they choose for the movie, especially James Marsden as Hitch was fantastic. And I'm still pretty disappointed that they've all been replaced with new actors. While I do still think the 45 minute special was good, I'm hoping we'll learn more new things for whatever is next to come for G5 as I'm not giving up on it now, even with my complaint on the voice actor replacements. And I'm likely gonna be saying this a lot, (and likely the same for many others) I still prefer/miss the cast we got for the movie over their replacements they got.

I want to assume there are either too many scheduling conflicts with the bigger names, or they simply cost too much for the show's reduced budget.

And yeah, I really hope MYM is the low point. Everything else is great and/or getting better very quickly.

I'm guessing its budgeting too.

the animation downgrade was to be expected. Resembles early Dragons: Race to the Edge from what I've seen.
