So!!!!!! After a hiatus of 3.5 months I last updated my big fat shipping epic around the beginning of February. Usually when I publish a chapter it is with some jubilation; mainly with chapter 20 I was just relieved that I was finally done with the damn thing.
Since then another 3.5 months have passed and I've written about 2000 words total with 0 updates.
Suffice to say I've stalled out hard and yeah, it's because of work... not to get whiny or put too fine a point on it but WFH call centre stuff is pretty draining when the phone line is constantly off the hook even without a commute or anything like that, and that's been the case for me since Christmas pretty much. When I started SSME I was working <25 hours a week at a local shop and had a bit more free time, and that hasn't been the case for the past year or so now. Moreover, being so busy during that time hasn't left me with much inclination to create in my free time; pays better though, and if anyone was in any doubt YES I have been frittering my hard-earned cash away on those limited edition Kotobukiya models! Didn't care much for the original lily-white ones but once the possibility of blue Rainbow Dash was a-go everything changed
But that's completely beside the point. I've not been very happy about the story situation. Feels like I apologise constantly for my slowness but it's to myself as much as to anyone who's following along. I want to see this project through! They WILL kiss! My silly long-winded wish fulfilment must be properly concluded and not abandoned, I think about this stuff too much to just dramatically flop over with a protracted "meeeeeehhhhh" and vanish like so many Fimfiction authors! You could say I'm sort of obsessed with the little horse toys for children and it's not going away, sad but true
There is good news though, I moved onto a different, less ass-kicking campaign this month where there is actually some breathing space between phone calls (typing this out while working now, actually) so I may actually get something out there soon. Not really sure what the point of typing this is since I'm pretty sure it isn't the first time I've written a long SORRY IM SLOW post; I guess I just want to show some sign of life to anyone who's been waiting for the next chapter.
For myself as much as anyone else, really. If I feel like someone is counting on me I'm more likely to shift my lazy ass. Maybe I'll go over some writing exercises while I'm not super-busy to get my creative juices flowing, and if nothing else it would be cool to finally blow through 200K words. Please watch this space, I'm loath to make any big promises right now but I will do my best 🙇♂️

As for the fic and lack of updates, don’t worry about it, you made it clear you want to finish it, you can take as long as you need; also 3 months without an update isn’t tht bad, and I tell you that as someone who took over a year to update his fic

Hey, thanks for your patience. Looks like I've gotten back on track somewhat since writing that blog post but I haven't been working on SSME. Looks like the time has, after a long wait, come once again to write... well, an addition to my other Sparity story series! 18+ only, mind. Having fun with it so far and dusting away the cobwebs though, and that's what's important, right? Rest assured I'll get back to the main, work-safe story after I'm done with that. Bear with me
