When you're left feeling disappointed by a film · 9:14pm May 21st, 2022

Making a film can be compared to the food in a restaurant, in more ways than one.

First of all, there are ingredients to making a film, just like there are in food. Some of the main ingredients in a film are the plot, the action and the special effects. Like any food that you would cook or bake, you have to add the ingredients in the right ratio. If the plot is too complicated, the audience are left scratching their heads trying to follow it all, plus the special effects are not as special and it takes the focus away from the action. Likewise, if there's too much focus on special effects and/or action, it can leave the plot feeling unfinished or underwhelming.

Also, when you're opening a restaurant, you want to advertise to the right clientele. If you've opened up a quaint little bakery, you're going to want to target that at the ponies who like baked goodies, not those who like Italian cuisine, for example. Disguising a romantic drama as a martial arts or horror movie is only going to attract the wrong audience and leave them feeling a bit short-changed.

I've just finished watching a film maybe half an hour ago? Something like that. It was good, don't get me wrong. It's a fun film and I enjoyed watching it. However, it left me feeling like something was missing. Too much focus on special effects and action without the proper amount of storyline, plus it was advertised as being a dark sci-fi, only to turn out as a martial arts film with elements of dark science fiction. I think maybe if the budget was higher they could've made more of the plot as well as the now somewhat outdated special offers, but no. It was mildly disappointing.

Still not anywhere near the worst movie I've watched, though. I couldn't even stomach 25 minutes of that one. There are two reasons why I don't mention it by name - the first that that film was absolutely unbearably terrible (and yes, I could tell from only 25 minutes), and the second is that I don't really fancy being sued. Just because my little sister could make a better movie, it doesn't mean I can bad mouth the movie here. It really was terrible though, lol.

The film I've just watched is The Matrix. It's probably better if you like martial arts films as well as sci-fi, but it wasn't particularly my cup of tea. Just my opinion.

5659010
which one?

1999? 2003? or 2021?

5659122
The first one. The Matrix. The others (in order) are Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions and Matrix Resurrection. I have yet to watch these three, but sometimes sequels are better than the original, so here's to hoping.

True, hope you have fun watching it

*early summer exist*

5659157
Hah!

Just three more days and its two months and a half of summer! (I think)

5659158
My measly six weeks holiday feels very underwhelming all of a sudden.

5659159
*pulls her slowly into a hug, whispering her eats* American summers are the best

5659161
Well, depends on which part of America you're in. As long as it isn't too hot, it's fine. I'm not keen on hot weather.

5659162
its 86°F rn (30°C)

5659163
My goodness! How have you not spontaneously combusted yet?!

5659166
*shrugs* I guess because of this small fan in my room

dont know why I am still wearing an undershirt and T-shirt

5659167
If it got to about 35 degrees celsius where I live, I wouldn't survive. I hate hot weather. Snow, I can deal with. Scorching temperatures and hosepipe bans because the extreme heat breaks the UK weather system and makes it not rain? Ew, no thanks.

5659168
Without the heat and the sun, I wouldn't be able to get this skin color lol

5659169
Without the sun, we wouldn't exist. Still, I don't like it when the weather system is broken. As much as everyone in the UK moans about the rain, if I have to choose between rain and scorching sun the rain is the lesser of two evils.

5659173
Heheheh

I'm burning

5659174
Ok, you've volunteered yourself for the ice bucket challenge now. :trollestia:

5659175

5659179
