Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with another movie review for tonight! This evening, I will be reviewing DreamWorks’ second installment of this series entitled: Shrek 2! This is one of my favorite childhood animated movies of all time! Seriously, this movie is the best film of the series and one of the most legendary sequels ever. It contains excellent writing, cohesive storytelling, splendid dialogue, and a well-made plot. Ever since I was a kid, I always preferred to watch this movie over the first one because it was really that highly entertaining and enjoyable. I can’t even remember how many times I’ve watched this as a kid, but I do remember how great it actually is.

This is a faithful continuation from the last movie as it covers now Shrek and Fiona being invited to the kingdom of Far, Far, Away. There, Fiona reunites with her parents—the King and Queen—while Shrek awkwardly meets them for the first time. Due to the hostility between Shrek and King Harold, Fiona begins to lose happiness in her home until a fairy godmother appears to her. As the godmother attempts to unite her and her own son, Prince Charming, in marriage, Shrek and the gang must stop her and her machinations before Fiona gets taken away from him.

I thought the writers did a well-creative job in making the returning characters just as great as they were in the previous movie and also even more hilarious than before. The new characters were likewise enjoyable and felt like an integral part of the story. One of them being Puss in Boots. I just love Puss in Boots as a character. He is both hilarious, entertaining, and overall enjoyable to watch. He steals every scene he is in and makes the story even more engaging because of his amusing personality. His chemistry with Shrek and Donkey was well-written and amazing.

The humor was fantastic in this as well. I can think of almost every single humorous moment in the movie that genuinely made me laugh out loud. One of my favorite scenes was the part where Donkey kept shouting the classic line, “Are we there yet?!” and Shrek telling him to not be himself...

FOR FIVE MINUTES!!!

I will never stop laughing at that. 🤣

The fairy godmother was a wonderful villlainess in this movie. In my opinion, she felt more intimidating than Lord Farquad with her calm and collected personality and her clever, manipulative attitude. Who would have thought a fairy godmother would be so villainous in a fictional movie? I’m certain the fairy godmother from the Cinderella franchise would be disgusted with this version! Jennifer Saunders was amazing as the main antagonist!

Speaking of which, the voice acting was great as always. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz all did excellent vocal performances as their respective main characters. The additional voice cast did a great job too.

So what did we learn, ladies and gentlemen? That orges do have happily ever afters. Even those who are looked upon as outcasts or inferior can have a happy ending even if we do not expect it. The only people who should get sad or crappy endings are folks like the fairy godmother or Prince Charming. If ever you try to bring harm, sorrow, or problems to someone innocent, karma will return to you. The godmother had to learn that the hard way. Jokes on her, baby! So yeah, this movie is awesome beyond words. Great voice acting, amazing soundtrack, and splendid characters. This gets a 12/10! I really don’t see any issue with this movie whatsoever, and that is saying something. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for...the next movie.

Peace!

I liked Puss' line when he held off the soldiers

The scene where they found catnip on him and treated it like he was in possessions of drugs? That was a funny scene. The movie as a whole was hilarious

The fact that anything below 8 is an option is an affront to reality itself. 11/10!

No... Go, go! You'd lady needs you!

5653653
Ah, that was also good

Don't forget the scene where the others bust Shrek, Donkey, and Puss out of prison and how Pinocchio's nose doesn't grow when he says he's wearing lady's underwear XD. That had to be one of the best moments

This is probably the best animated movie sequel of all time.

I watched Shrek 2 more often than the first one because I had on DVD in my house and Shrek was VHS in my grandparents´ house. Both are incredible films you just love it more the more you grow. Great stroy, great humour, great characters...

Puss in Boots was my favourite. I hope whoever thcame up with the idea of making him Spanish and have Antonio Banderas voice him got a huge raise! Talking about Antonio, that man has range. He can be Puss but also depict a director in a drama.

Forgive me for the stupid pun, but… I think 🎵You need a Hero!🎵, to save you from Shrek 3, as well as Prince Charming’s, “Singing”. It’s more like caterwauling, if I’m being honest. At least the jokes that Shrek says during that scene are at least funny. “If you don’t mind, could you kill me, and THEN sing?”

Personally, I didn't think this movie was as good as the first film.

Granted, I didn't hate the film. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed it. But, there were some things about it that left me unimpressed.

I say one of my favorite parts of this movie is when Shrek was turn human since to me. Shrek is one good looking human
