Normally, I don't give a fuck about the Oscars (mostly because I find it questionable about how much they give a fuck about the Best Animated Feature category) · 6:25pm Mar 28th, 2022

But this definitely made my day:

For the record, I like Chris Rock. He's a funny guy and he managed to brilliantly roll with the punches (or slap) in this situation. Which leaves me wondering why people are making a big fuss about it:

https://news.sky.com/story/oscars-2022-ugliest-oscar-moment-ever-celebrities-react-to-the-will-smith-slap-12576751

That said, I am willing to acknowledge Chris isn't entirely innocent in this situation. Unless they're fine with it, it's not a smart move to joke about a person's medical condition.

BTW, if any of y'all are wondering why I think the people at the Oscars don't give a fuck about the Best Animated Feature category is because of this article I found:

https://www.cartoonbrew.com/award-season-focus/definitive-proof-that-academy-voters-are-ignorant-about-animation-96680.html

As well as the fact that most Best Animated Feature winners in the past decade or so are Disney films. Make no mistake, some of the Disney films did deserve their Oscars (Toy Story 3 being a good example) but how in the living fuck did Loving Vincent not win an Oscar? Sixty-five thousand oil-painted frames in Van Gogh's own style and yet it lost to what I assume to be typical Disney/Pixar fare. Or how about Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion? It was submitted to the Oscars and yet didn't even get a nomination!

Then let me ask you something: have you ever had a girlfriend before? If not then are there any members that you dearly love?

Let's just say when one is raised by a single mother who went through many relationships before giving up on such a thing entirely, one doesn't consider getting a girlfriend to be the top priority in one's life. And as for family members I dearly love, I'm currently on the fence on that one. I don't hate any of my family members but I do have an inclination to judge them based on how useful they are to me and, more often than not, I genuinely question if I will actually mourn them if they die.

That said, I do understand why Will Smith got angry at Chris Rock. Like I said, Chris Rock is not entirely innocent in this situation and joking about Jada Pinkett's alopecia wasn't a smart move.

Alright, sorry about your situation. And I'm glad you understand what I was getting at in this situation.

5646797
Yeah, I like to look at both sides of a situation before making a judgement.

Also, don't worry about my situation. I'm not bothered by it. In fact, it allows me to focus on my creative works.

And yet he lets other men sleep with his wife, what a real man.:facehoof:

Trust me Will was forced into the whole "open relationship" thing. The way I see it he cannot divorce her for various reasons, including his own reputation if he divorced his wife while she is going through this trying time with her disease.

But that marriage is actually dead, Will is a broken man. And honestly I would break too if I found out my wife had been cheating on me with a friend of our son for a long period of time.

At this point Will managed to win Best Actor, which probably is his biggest consolation. At least he has his career.

The man is the head of the family, there's no such thing as being 'forced' into any such thing by one's wife.

5646873
Not physically. She probably has a good lawyer and a lot of connections in other parts of Hollywood that can make Will's life hell if he didn't accept the open relationship.

Also, women have always had the ability to gather quick sympathy because one looks good in society's eyes for doing so. As long as she avoids accountability and makes out Will to be a neglectful husband she can get away with cheating on him with her son's friends.

This is why you must be careful whom you marry. I don't care how beautiful she is, if she is not a virtuous woman, she will make your life hell. If she is a virtuous woman, even if she is so ugly you need to put a bag over her head, nonetheless, you will be happy.

Glad I chose celibacy.

Glad I chose celibacy.

Same here.

I like to think the whole "be fruitful and multiply" thing is optional anyway. Especially since the world's population is 7.9 billion, which I consider an overpopulation crisis, and I'd rather not bring a child into this world if there is even a 1% chance they might inherit any mental issues I have.

Oh, and I don't like the idea of sex. I don't even like seeing the human body naked.

5646963
Overpopulation as the world sees it is a myth, God always provides for our needs.
That said, our Lord did encourage celibacy for the sake of the kingdom of God for those who could hear it

5646963
The thing is that the third world doesn't see it, and are the ones that continue to multiply. While the first world is now having a labor shortage and in the near future a local underpopulation issue.

Though the world isn't so much overpopulated as it's resources are purposefully mismanaged and squandered on insane stupid things due to the fact that it's more profitable... We need a fix of the supply chains and the laws of sanitation and waste management, along with world wide enforced labor laws first and foremost. With that overpopulation becomes a non-issue for another century or two.

And everyone that is saying that they are not having kids so they don't have to inherit this horrible world do not realize that paradoxically things where so much worse politically in the past.

And while Climate Change is horrible, refusing to reproduce or to raise children because of it is the opposite of solving the problem. This is because the daunting task of repairing the atmosphere and regrowing the rainforests, along with the massive plastic cleanups are problems that are going to take easily generations to fix if we REALLY try because it isn't an easy fix.

Humanity has and can pull the seemingly impossible but thinking that less people means less pollution and less problems is pretty stupid considering that the damage has already been done and choosing to end your family tree to stop future generations from suffering is the epitome of defeatism.

To be fair though you not liking sex or nudity is a good enough reason to be celibate and not have any children. I can respect that.

And also giving up after many failed relationships is understandable.

Personally, I think the whole thing with Will Smith and Chris Rock was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Regardless of how realistic Smith's slap appeared to be and if Rock's joke was in any way offensive, everything about this recent event seems like it was cooked up by the Film Awards committee to draw attention to itself as a way of garnering more ratings and press notice than it got in recent years.

If you watch the Red Table of Will Smith and Jada, then everything will make sense.
