Chapter 12 of "A Wastelander Tale" is up, yay! · 2:33pm Mar 18th, 2022

Oh looky, it's first recon, but ponies!!

Last of the NCR stuff for now, not many other guns I can do for them, and felt this one would be most influenced by Calamity. As for why I think, and had him become president in my story, was that it fit. I know Kkat had him reject anything to do with politics, but I felt that somepony well known and respected would need to take over, or the NCR would be doomed to fall apart.

You see, the biggest problem for the NCR is it's spontaneous creation, where it practically formed overnight under Gwadina, and with a simple goal in mind. though it can happen in history, I don't ever remember it ever ending well. most times when such a new government is formed, it's had years of planning, and development of a power structer before it reveals itself. such as the USA, where the colonies already were self ruling, and had their own shadow government appert from the crown, so when they seperated and became the USA, they alredy had the groundwork for it. unfortunately the NCR in Fo:E did not. meaning that those who had the experance with governing who would come in to help, would have no loyalty to the NCR.

So why Calamity, simple, he is a Hero. The best friend of Littlepip, few could oppose him, and most naysayers would need to back off. Unlike Gwadina, he's record would be clean, and through the story of the Lightbringer, his deeds would be known. Add to that his status as the Element of Loyalty, only an idiot would believe he would ever betray the citizens of the NCR. Simply put, if Calamity was not put in charge of the NCR, then the NCR would be doomed to fall.

As for the biggest danger, also simple, politicians and greedy corporations. not as bad is it was in old Equestria, but the NCR is far smaller and fragile. in time the NCR would be torn appart through infighting, needless expantion, and greedy ponies milking them dry before moving on. Under Calamity, he would not let such things happen, and would have the education to understand what politicians are trying to do. also with an almost zealous Lightbringer worshipers helping Calamity, much corruption would be rooted out over his long rule.

I could imagine that the NCR would be at it's most powerful at the end of Calamities time of power, having riased it as high and strong as he could, and it would be a slow decline for a good hundred to two hundred years before a new grate leader take over, possibly finally unifying Equestria. But the time of Calamity would not be forgotten, likely seen as the time when the wastland finally started to die, and Equestria was placed onto the road of recovery.

SO what do you think?

I can see as he would be getting older and after his experience with little pip, he would see the good he could do with becoming the leader of the NCR. As you said adding that he is the element of loyalty he would make the perfect candidate.
