Chapter 10 is up, and lets talk raiders! · 3:04pm Mar 4th, 2022

Looky looky, a raider, and oh no, they got guns!

A stable of Fallout and Fallout Equestria, raiders are a threat that must be delt with, often early on as a starter enemy. Littlepip started out fighting raiders, though later in the story they became a minor thing, to the point where whole fights with raiders just get skipped. Project Horizon tried to up the raider threat by making them into a brain infecting illness, though I think it would have been better if they were portrayed as something different from raiders, and drug addicts and brain damaged crazies are different from each other.

in my current story, the raiders will remain a bigger threat, with two already seen, the Brain Nails and the Corps Dancers. One that can be paid to leave you alone, and the other what most portray raiders as. We also saw Molotov, a Shatter Hoof raider, one of the groups that were relatively peaceful with Littlepip, and later fell under the control of the Talons with Littlepips help. So raiders are kindove all over the place, and the turm is more a catch all then a certain thing.

Also in the lor blurbs of the gun lists, early raiders are mentioned, and that they were actually far more terrifying then the raiders of the wasteland. mostly because they were already the mentally damaged ponies from the wartime, who then snapped, and the guns at the time were still in good condition, and their were a lot of them with plenty of ammo. So ya, things went from bad, to worse, to OH MY GOD MY NEIGHBOR IS KILLING EVERYPONY WITH A MINIGUN!!!

Speaking of guns, I think the guns they were able to get is the main reason why Raiders are seen as poor shots, as they mainly only can get the shit guns that most reasonable ponies don't use if they don't have to. on top of that, the guns are likely poorly maintained, and the raider is either high, or suffering from withdrawal. It's also likely that raiders who can nolonger shoot well are given guns that have ammo the others don't care to loose, not expecting the twitchy raider to hit anything, but expecting them to keep the other ponies head down.

The guns often found with raiders are the guns that are found everywhere, being originally fished out of vending machine's or found in where houses, there are always more of them somewhere. this also leads to why the Pipe SMG is better then the Trot 9 or the Scrapyard SMG? simply put, the Pip SMG is newer and made to be junk, where the other two are eather over 100 years old, or just made to work, not work well. Actually the Scrapyard SMG, if you have notices, is based on the Luty SMG, which was an SMG made to prove that you can easily make your own, but Luty himself was not a gunsmith, so his SMG is rather poor as SMG's go. So the Scrapyard SMG follows the same fate, and is poorly designed, where the Pip SMG was made by the Gunrunners, Griffions who know how to turn anything into a gun. So the Pip SMG may be junk, but that is the point of it, to be a junk gun that works well, meaning that it rarely jams, rarely misfires, and is easy to fix.

as for the Trot 9, I realy sould have one appear in my current story, along with it's flaws. Hehe, have one of the companion's simply chuck it at the enemy, and Lottery watches as the Trot 9 just gose off as it bounces around.

So ya, what is your opinion on raiders?
