My Little Pony G5 News 02/18/2022 · 2:27pm Feb 18th, 2022

Why'd you spill your beans?... Why'd you spill your beans?...

*Notices the viewers reading*

Oh crap, I'm on the air! CUE THE MUSIC!!!

GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for Generation 5 and beyond! That's right folks, after a two month absence from blogging on this site, the Dramamaster is back to deliver some more news in regards to some upcoming G5 material. Now lately, the reason being for so quiet during the new year is mainly because up until recently there wasn't really much of G5 to work with. Nothing much to overview but concept art from the show and merchandising, specifically the toys...

Though I wouldn't be surprised if this were foreshadow, specifically the mention of Sombra of all villains...

But today Fimfiction faithful, we're not here to talk about any of that stuff. This week, I've just recently learned some additional information pertaining the follow-up series for the 'New Generation' movie set to come out later this year. Now granted there's not a whole lot of material they've given away just yet, but what little information I was able to receive I can guarantee faithful viewers that this could either draw more of a crowd for G5... or give them another reason to shove that generation down the grave before they really give it a chance (You know who I'm referring to). But anyways, what's interesting to note are a few subtle notes: We will have a 2D animated run and a 3D special, mainly to air on Netflix but a few of these shows will be featured on YouTube. The other note being... both shows had to do a 'major' casting change.

BOOOOOOO!!!!!

I know! I know! I'll explain more into it later during this blog. But for the time being, we must get through the subjects of these shows themselves. And the titles set for G5 are as followed:

'Make Your Mark', which will be the first G5 MLP special in which the animated style will be the same as the movie...

Okay... that sounds promising so far...

And the weekly series will be 'Tell Your Tale', which is aiming to be... a 2D animated series?

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

THEY'RE DOING THE PONY LIFE ANIMATION FOR THIS SERIES!!! Seriously, 'why' do people actually like this program?

Oh, sit on a d*** Dramamaster!!!

YOU WATCH YOUR MOUTH, YOUNG LADY!!!

*Takes a deep breath*

Based on the images we have right now, and mainly because I have no other information to work with as far as the 'plots' are concerned, the best I can do at this point is speculate as far as what we can expect moving forward (And give faithful viewers a chance to share their own thoughts as to what we can expect). Onto the subject of 'Tell Your Tale', based on the choice of the animation style (Which I'm either going to like... or 'despise'), I wouldn't be surprised if this is mainly a 'slice of life' series put together mostly for laughs. But I could be wrong and there could be some smart writing involved in this series, as well as engaging storylines (I'm always a fan of those 2D shows). We know for a fact that this series will be airing in YouTube on a Weekly basic starting this April on the 7th. But we also know the series will also be featured on Netflix a month later, around May 26th. The series itself will take place on the regular official 'My Little Pony' channel (Anywhere else and those channels will be banned for life), so at the very least regardless of how the series turns out that channel's bound to get a ton of views. And we all know why those specific YouTube channels desperately need those views...

We've got to have 'money'...

*Glares in annoyance* Your confidence in us is very reassuring...

Moving forward... joining the news of the 2D series popping up on YouTube, we'll also have the first of a few MLP specials set to air. Staring on Netflix, May 26th, we will also have the 'Make Your Mark' style which fortunately for us will be shown 'movie style', so we can only hope it meets the same quality level as the feature. In addition to a Netflix release, a 'Make Your Mark' series will be set to air on September 26th (Though I don't know for sure if it'll be a weekly ordeal or if it's one of those release ALL the episodes on Netflix deals). Now based on my thoughts on this series, I feel this will 'heavily' contrast the more comedic run of which I believe 'Tell Your Tale' will be. Whenever I hear the talk that this series will be 'movie style', naturally I'm thinking that this will be the more serious of the two. That this is the series of which follows the more story-driven elements that nowadays most fans enjoy, the series that truly opens more of the lore to the new world and tackle some heavier issues that, let's face it, kids need to be more aware of to. I mean after all, name 'one' other series that was made for kids and yet despite the reboot retained the theme of covering heavy issues with a more innocent approach...

This is totally not an advertisement at all...

But as often said in television ads... 'But wait! There's more!'. *Clears throat* Not only will we be having 'two' major G5 series to watch later this year, G5 is stepping up their game with a holiday special set to air in November... because apparently December's too easy. On November 21st, be sure to mark your calendar, Hasbro will be releasing a special specifically titled 'Winter Wishday'...

Winter Wrap Up, Winter Wrap--

WRONG TITLE!!!!! *Clears throat* Now even though we know for certain G5 shares the same universe as G4, albeit taking place THOUSANDS of years after the time of Twilight Sparkle and friends, I know what you fans must be thinking right now. What's the difference between 'Winter Wishday' and 'Hearthswarming'? To which end... I really don't know. For me it sounds like this 'Wishday' ordeal sounds like a holiday that G3 had done ages ago, but I could be wrong. Whereas the season of Hearthswarming celebrated the unity amongst the three pony races, the title 'Wishday' itself could mean just like it says. A holiday in which a ponies are given that 'one' time of the year to make a wish as far as their inner most desires for the new year (Sort of like some 'New Years' resolution thing I'm to guess). When it comes to holiday specials, it could end up being one of two things: A classic worth watching over and over again... or just another stale T.V. special we are bored of after a minute. Either way...

I will admit the cast looks cute in these holiday get-ups...

And now that we've got the news about the series out of the way, it's time we really get down to a subject that is certain to get fans debating for a few months to come. In light of the news of these new series, the major five of the original cast for 'New Generation' will not be returning to reprise their roles. But instead, some different voicework will be made to represent our new cast. And why couldn't we get the original cast, you may ask?

We've got to have 'money'...

WE GET IT!!!!

*Clears throat* We don't really 'know' much about the new cast, other than the fact they've multiple kids shows under their belts, along with regular film and television roles (If I went over 'all' of them, this blog is sure to reach beyond the max limit). So going over the new cast one at a time, we begin with...

Jenna Warren - Sunny Starscout
*Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go! (Carly), The Family (Abigail), Remember Me Mommy? (Lily)*

Ana Sani - Izzy Moonbow
*Mysticons (Piper Willbrook/Mysticon Striker), Ollie's Pack (Cleo Badette), Mia and Me (Yuko), Pony Life (Sugar Snap)*

JJ Gerber - Hitch
*Not much about him except I think he does a ton of music*

AJ Bridel - Pipp Petals
*Odd Squad (Sister Sally #2), Private Eyes (Tiffany), The Gossip Queen (Laura)*

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan - Zip Storm
*Never Have I Ever (Devi Vishwakumar), Turning Red (Priya)*

So we have the condensed version of what these kids have done prior to partaking in G5. At least one of these cast members have had prior experience to MLP and at least a few of these names are famous in the voice acting community. If the shows you know them for were not previously mentioned, well like I said we'd be here all day (But feel free to share if you know a show you know these kids for). And if I can offer some sound advice: Try not to give these guys a hard time and try to compare them with the original cast. The studios could've chosen 'millions' of other actors to take over for the new cast, but instead they chose these five for a reason. All we can do is wish them the very best of luck and hope they can continue providing the spirit of what makes these ponies so entertaining to watch. Let's just hope they don't get too overwhelmed by all the fame and fortune, because we know the kind of FREAKS out there who can easily take advantage of these guys.

Whatever you're thinking right now... DON'T DO IT!!!

But now the BIGGER question remains: What do 'you' think? Be sure to leave a comment below at your earliest convenience.

Until then faithful readers, this is the Dramamaster829... and it's good to be back!

*Recap

A slight recap of yesterday's news for some valuable input on the future of G5 itself.

New Voice Actors

If you wish to follow and learn more about the new actors for the Mane 5, feel free to check out these links:

Jenna Warren/Sunny Starscout
Anai Sani/Izzy Moonbow
JJ Gerber/Hitch Trailblazer
AJ Bridel/Pipp Petals
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan/Zipp Storm

Word of advice when following these kids, DO NOT try to bombard with either too many questions or give them a hard time thinking they are in the shadows of the original voices. The studio picked these kids for a purpose, and I'd like to believe they want to do the very best with the roles they are blessed to have.

My Little Pony Generation 5: Tell Your Tale

This 2D style show will air on YouTube first, with a Netflix showing much later. There will be a total of 70 episodes for the first run of the series, each episode taking at least '5' minutes of airtime. If we were to calculate the math, if we were to combine these episodes together, that would make for a total of... *Inputs info in calculator* 1 hour and 10 minutes of material (You could pretty much make a film that would be close to the usual hour and a half of airtime. As previously stated, the show airs weekly starting April 7th. The show itself will be developed by Lil Critter Workshop in Malaysia, with Gretchen Mallorie as Head writer and David Flack as the Creative Producer. If you desire a short preview of the animation, that can be found in this link below:

My Little Pony Generation 5: Make Your Mark (Special)

This special will contain the same 3D style as the motion picture that came out a few months ago. It will air and release on Netflix on May 26th with an estimated 44-minute run time. No word yet on the details as far as what this special will cover, but Gillian Berrow (The writer from 'Friendship is Magic!') will be developing this special and given her prior experience with MLP we hope she can make this a special worth watching.

My Little Pony Generation 5: Make Your Mark (Series)

Much like the special, this series will not only feature the same 3D Film style, but it will also air on Netflix around September 26th with Gillian Berrow also developing the series. But unlike the first season of 'Friendship is Magic', we will only have 8 episodes to start the series and each of which will take 22 minutes as per the usual run of an episode (Without commercials). Now to some fans it sounds like a step down from the usual '13 episode' or '26 episode' run of a season. But depending on the reception of this season as a whole, we can only hope this will not only lead to more seasons and more episodes but hopefully some further growth in the lore.

My Little Pony Generation 5: Winter Wishday

Set to air on Netflix on November 21st, this special will also with the same 3D Movie Style and much like the 'Make Your Mark' special it will run with a 44-minute runtime. There are again no details to add with this special other than the fact it will be G5's first Holiday Special for the series.

New G5 Comic Series (IDW)

IDW's first issue of the G5 comics will feature drawings by Amy Meebberson with the overall story and dialogue written by Celeste Bronfman. The following synopsis of the comic itself are as followed:

With magic returned to Equestria, the ponies are more united than ever--at least until one of the Unity Crystals is stolen! (Ooh... *Insert spooky noises*) Can the Mane 5 find the culprit before magic is gone for good? And could it really be that their pet Pomeranian is leading them to the city of Canterlot of Friendship Is Magic fame?

While we don't know if this will be canon with the G5 series itself, or if this is one of those comics that may tie in with a future episode either to air later this year or in another season, for those seeking to add to their collection of MLP comics this should make for quite a read for those who've been supported of G5 since it first aired. No doubt a certain 'Silver Quill' will likely give a review of this comic as soon as it hits shelves.

Four New G5 Playsets for August

For those looking for those special gifts for friends and relatives (Likely a niece or nephew) who are big fans of MLP in general, 3 'mini' themed playsets and 1 traditional playset (Complete with a 'dragon' pet) will be made available at toy stores and even for online purchase around August 8th. For a full gallery, pricing, and marketing information around the toys themselves, please refer to the following link below:

May 26th?! That's the day before my birthday! And here I was hoping for a good one this year, and instead we get ponies that look like designs from the Turbo: FAST show... *pout*

Now wait a minute... wait a minute.

All my jokes about the animation aside, there's always that chance that the show could be better than how it appears...

I hope...

Here’s some extra news

Helluva Boss update announced on their Twitter
Andrew Garfield getting high buzz for a possible chance at an Oscar for his role in Tick, Tick… Boom!

5637164
1. I figured a 'Helluva Boss' reference would come up since I always use those images for my blogs. All I heard was that the finale would come as soon as possible but they weren't exactly specific.

2. And it's good that Andrew Garfield might have a chance at an Oscar. Let me just see... *Checks the page* Oh yeah, he did make the list. Still has some stiff competition. But just to be nominated is a big honor.

I have mixed feelings on the series but I'm willing to give it a chance, looking forward to the mini-movies though. I did, however, watch Pony Life and it was entertaining enough so I'll keep an open mind. Fantastic news and blog Drama and was curious about the release dates. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication, stay cool, stay classy XD

5637165
This is prolly the closest he’ll get
I feel like he proved himself to be a great actor so I think he deserves a little win

If not at least there’s the nomination

Yea I’m hoping we’ll get the finale by the end of Q1 of this year

5637166
As will I. After all, I wouldn't be making these blogs about G5 if I still didn't think there is any potential. As soon as more information comes up surrounding these series, like a potential trailer or anything, I'll be sure to keep my faithful readers posted.

5637167
Close is better than being too far after all. Garfield has been a solid actor throughout his career, but this may be one of his best roles to date. And even if he doesn't win, so long as he keeps up with the momentum at this rate there'll always be next year.

As for the 'Helluva Boss' finale, it's supposed to be the biggest the crew has put together. Next thing you know there'll be a Blu-Ray release with all the season 1 material. They did that with RWBY.

Okay, Here's my opinion:

Yo! It's not Pony Life but...

...I'll take it! I'm down! I don't give a shit! I can't wait to check it out:pinkiesmile:!

The animation is not that bad for me the leg need improvement, Guess they going low budget for youtube series because for the other.

For the cast, let see what they got in store for us. I all ready follow them on Instagram and heard there voice, wish the best of luck of them.

5637435
Well, you are optimistic about this scenario, and I respect that. Let's just hope that this is better than what we think it is.

5637445
Yes, the legs do need a slight bit of work. But you have a point: That is a result of what happens when working on a low budget. You barely have everything you need to obtain that level of quality, even for a YouTube series. We either know these new cast members or we don't. But for some of us, this is an introduction to some of these guys. Hopefully they can not only respect the performance of what the original voices provided for the movie... but they can also add their own take on these characters. Maybe they can help them be better than their initial introduction... maybe...
