I Got It · 3:07am Jan 19th, 2022
Well, it is official. I have Covid.
My little story begins on Christmas Day 2021. My step-daughter and her husband were visiting us and exchanging gifts. My son-in-law wasn't feeling well, but being the stubborn mule he is, he powered through anyway. It was two days later we received a text from my step-daughter that her husband had tested positive for Covid. Juuusssssst great.
I called work and they put me out of work for two weeks while we waited. I went to the hospital and got a test run. I do not want ANYTHING stuck up my nose like that again. The results came back negative. My husband didn't fare as well. He got a test from Walgreens and his was positive. Because he is in a high risk group (problems with asthma and COPD) he got the infusion (like Trump, though my husband hates to admit it). He's doing a lot better.
My daughter was tested at a quick test center the school recommended. I really did not want her to have to take on-line classes again. She really did badly during the shutdown in 2020 and needs the support of her teachers. She tested negative. She went back to school and with the quarantine over, I went back to work.
Then Sunday I woke up with a fever, aches, and headache. I thought (hoped) it was a just a 24 hour bug. My stomach had bothered me the night before I thought maybe it was just a stomach virus. However, after the stomach problems went away I still felt bad and was running a fever. I finally went today to the quick test center to get tested. Quick my ass! I got there at 8:00 am and they didn't start testing till 10:00! Finally, I was swabbed (gently this time. they do not need to touch your brain to get a good swab) and a few minutes later received my result.
Positive.
I didn't panic. I was just grateful I knew what was wrong and that I really was sick and not "making a mountain out of a molehill". Relief was short-lived however. I should not need to remind others of this but I will. When you are waiting in your car for two hours for ANYTHING....DO NOT KEEP THE DAMN RADIO ON! My husband had to come and jump me off.
Covid is real. And it sucks ass.
Stay rested
Stay hydrated
Take care of yourself
