Gay and Trans · 3:33pm Apr 3rd, 2023
I felt compelled to make this post after what happened at the school in Tennessee.
My daughter, Pinkie Wannabe, came out of the closet about a year ago to let us know she was gay. We all love her and accept this unconditionally. One of Pinkie's friends, a very close friend, came out as non-binary but now identifies as male. He has not told his parents, but has come out to his friends. To show her support for her friend, Pinkie has been wearing pins depicting the Trans-flag colors (as well as the Pride and Neptunic flags).
The day after the shooting, my husband warned Pinkie that she might not want to wear her Trans pin because the shooter at the school in Tennessee was Trans and the Right Wing has latched onto that instead of issues of gun control and mental health. Reading the news this morning, I found out false reports of the Uvalde shooter being Trans have been circulated as well. Apparently, the Trans community is being accused of radicalizing the youth.
Considering, the majority of people who have committed mass shootings over the past few years were cisgender and straight, I find it hard to call one Trans shooter (or two if you count the Uvalde shooter, which I don't) a sign of radicalization. If anything, I find that the anti-Trans groups have radicalized more people than any other group. They have encouraged hate, non-acceptance, violence, rape. and and even murder. They have allowed those charged with assault and murder of Trans or Gay people to walk free. One ripple does not a tsunami make.
I love Pinkie's friend. In fact, when she came out as gay, I had secretly wished the friend was gay too so maybe they could date and get married. I wouldn't have minded her joining the family. It hurts me to think someone would hurt him because of this Right Wing bullshit.
Stay safe

We are trying, Her friend got bullied yesterday but not for that. They were spreading rumors he was racist and he suffered a panic attack.
