Talk About It: Tell Your Tale

    Hey Folks!

So, Tell Your Tale (TYT?) has been going on for a while, and I’ve been watching the episodes as they came out. I don’t make it a point to watch it, I just happen upon the episodes as they release. I personally consider it attached yet very unrelated to FiM as the show itself has been making quite clear, so I don’t really have complaints in that aspect.

    I did a thing…

    Hey Folks!

    It’s been a while, huh?

Moving on, I did a thing. I don’t know what to say about it other than the fact that it’s a thing and I am the all culprit behind this heinous crime.

    …I think I can explain better if I first show y’all what I did…

    Updates... and more!

    Hey Folks!

So, I decided to do a little update post.. thing today 'cause, well, I haven't been doing all that much on here as of late.
    I guess a life/incoming-stories update?

Short and simple way to put it would be: I've got a case of the infamous 'Writer's Block'.

Hurra! What an unexpected turn of events, huh?
    Not really.

Talk About It: New Releases · 2:53pm Jan 13th, 2022

Hey Folks!

Throughout the entirety of January, I've realeased three separate works. Two of which being actual one-shots and one of which being a small chapter as apart of SC. I have had this little regime of talking about the behind the scenes of my stories for a very short period of time now, but I've done it for a few, so I figured why not have a collections of stories that I don't think would be enough for an entire post on its own.

Let's get started with the smallest Behind The Scenes thoughts.

TStolen Childhood
A filly deprived of a loving, caring Childhood, has to grow up and manage adult-like tasks. Will she be able to do it all on her own, or will she have needs of her own? And will said needs get fulfilled?

Chapter 6 - Baby Bee?
It took me around half an hour or so to wrap this up, so it has very little to be said about it.
But little is always more than nothing.
This chapter is a little lighthearted compared to its successors I have planned. It was meant to resemble a 'calm before the storm' sort of deal, and is quite simple and short. It also does some reflecting on the last five chapters, and how it affected Dash, but to keep it as lighthearted as possible I glossed over that bit - for now.

The plot of this chapter starts out as just as a reflection of the previous parts, and then goes on to be a continuation from the last one, as we start back in the small room filled with foals. Now Dash gets a bit attracted to this one foal - not romantically to any who were wondering, which I hope was no one - and starts seeing to him first. He seems like a really fun foal - boy foal. Dash finds out said foal doesn't have a name and quickly names him.

Now this is where most of my brain came into play. I had to think of a little name, for a baby colt, my thought process was actually mentioned in the fic itself, as a part of Dash's processing system instead. First I figured I could go with Skye-something, cause of his baby blue eyes, and then it hit me. Baby Bee, is the name that came to me. The fact that his name changes when he gets older is what I mean by that, Big Bee, is what I imagine Dash, and others, would call him when he gets of age, Bee, I'd imagine is what they'd call him casually. I figured the name didn't stick out like any sour thumb would in Equestria, and bees fly don't they? So it'll add up. The naming system in Equestria works with their colour palet and talents/destinies in mind. When they're a foal, I imagine their parents simply go with what fits with their colour scheme, and that's what happened here.

Aside from maybe that, there weren't any things in that chapter I feel needs elaborations of any sort.

ESnuggles Are For Everypony!
Rainbow Dash wants, no needs, no craves some snuggling from her marefriend. The only issue is, will she let her guard down to let herself do it?

This is my most recent work, and arguably my best. I find that the plot, the characteristics and so on to be pretty much up my alley and hence it was so much fun to write.

This one was very refreshing and helpful for me. Not only because it fits with my own personality and is really easy to write, but also because it brought my enthusiasm for writing to a whole new level.

The plot was pretty basic, Dashie needs to let her guard down and let somepony in, she's craving some affection but is too scared to be vulnerable, and wants to feel safe, in the end, Applejack is Dash's helper - as she always is - and lends Dash the security she's been craving for.

Pretty slandered stuff, for me at least. I personally feel Dash's struggles through it and found myself relating to her more and more as I wrote. I find it hard to let my guard down, to let something happen to my reputation which I have made out to: unbreakable, I don't like it when people call me weak, and I'd die if I was caught showing affection in public, so I incorporated all that stuff into this, trying my best to make it believable. I was a bit worried that it might come off as cliche or unrealistic, but it didn't as far I'm concerned.

I can't tell you how many time I had to scrap the idea for this; far too many to count at this point. I kept getting distracted with their relationship - Aj and Dash's - and focused more on expanding that then Dah herself, which didn't end up helping anyone. The end product took me around an hour to actually complete and as for editing, that took me less than half an hour.

Overall, this was quite the fun time, writing this

TEvery Turn...
She turned left. Black. She turned right. Black. She turned front. Black. She turned back...

This took me three days to finish, not because I was struggling to keep the plot going, or cause I was seeing if it were interesting or whatever, no, none of that. This took me three whole days - and definitely more - to finish because I was worried I didn't handle the subject matter well enough.

This was my first attempt a T rated story with the themes it contains. I didn't want anything to be badly represented, or portrayed. I didn't want people who had gone through similar things to see this and feel as though I had no idea what I was doing. To be frank with you, I had looked into these matters as much as I could, made sure things were portrayed as well as it could be. I ended up quite satisfied with myself.

The next thing I found myself struggling with was how to go about this, I was going for a more first person perspective kind of deal, in a sense. It's like all this is being told to the reader by Dash herself, as if she's writing in her journal or something. It's a really fun way to write, where everything's already done and dealt with and all we - the author - has to do is think of what it is and write it down.
But there's a really big issue that I found myself struggling with while writing.
Since everything had already happened, and Dash was explaining this to the reader, it would feel like the reader was not really living with her, in short it be Telling not Showing, a massive pet peeve of mine while writing or reading.

To overcome this little problem, I added dialogues and little moments here and there where it felt as though we were living this with Dash. I added the abusive bit in that format, as well as the part of her accepting that he was gone. But - yeah, there's a but - I don't know if I did it right or not, so far I haven't received any criticisms on the matter.

And the ending, now that's something a bit more fun to talk about.
I didn't want to leave it as a bad ending. Especially 'cause I feel there should be a good representation for anyone reading it who might be struggling with some of those matter. So on the off chance that people might read it in that stance of life, I gave it a happier themed ending. Sure there weren't any happy speeches, or thank yous, or hugs, but there was a little sign showing the reader that Rainbow Dash hadn't given up. Which, by the way, is quite inline with her personality. She isn't one to give up without trying first, and actually rarely gives up, so I think her reaching for help was something real Dash would do.

As for who I wanted the person she reached out to be:... Applejack. I had in mind that she went all the way to Sweet Apple Acres, knocked on their door and broke down in front Applejack - who, by the way, helped the girl out of her situation and gave her a place to stay and so on.
Yes, I'm not kidding. I mean, what did you except from me?
But anyway, I left it quite open for your interpretation, I think it would be more fun for whoever likes to ship Dash with someone else, you know?

And now that's all I had to say! Phew! I'm done! That was one hell of a typing session, that took me very little time - but I can pretend I've been sat here for an hour, alright!

Thank you to anyone who read any of these, and I'll see y'all at the next one!

I like your head cannon for how naming works. After all, most pony names seem to reflect their cutie marks/jobs, which they obviously aren't born with. I could see them changing names as they get older.

Also, Tsundere Rainbow Dash is the best Rainbow Dash.

To be honest, I just went with what I saw, it just made sense to me, that's also how I've been choosing names for half the OCs in that, soooo....

And, true that, bud.
