Welcome to milestone blog #500! I’ve now been on Fimfiction for nine years... 
Consensus in my last blog was to continue working on Feathered Hearts - Continuation and Chronicles, so I will, pairing it with work on a new Eros chapter. With regards to C&C, for the first time since the prologue, the new entry is going to cover a whole original story chapter. C&C chapter 21 will run through the (altered) events of Feathered Heart - Chapter 7 in their entirety.
You may recall that particular chapter took a step back after the first combat action to allow everyone to collect themselves and determine their next steps. So it will be here, but I’m going to put a lot more emphasis on the post-battle reactions of the Marines, griffons and civilians, as well as how the humans react to the reveal of what the Cloven actually are. You’ll also get a great deal more background on how and why Chris, Tara and Marco smuggled their weapons in. The how and why have already been hinted at, but you’ll get it much more thoroughly explained here. Marco’s lesson to Gilda regarding guns is also much more extensive now.
For those of you who want to get to more combat, you’ll have to wait another chapter, and not just because trying to retain the rough story outline of the original version means there’s a break from it. I’ve said this before, but I’m of the opinion that it’s generally best to step back after an intense battle (or clop!) scene and let the reader catch their mental breath before continuing. I call it the ‘reading refractory period.’ Obviously, in certain stories or story sequences, that’s not possible (like Harmonic Resonance or even Eros, which are wall-to-wall clop at this point!) But for more plot-based stuff, I think it’s a requirement.
As for Eros, those of you who follow the story know what’s coming next. After four chapters from Marco’s perspective, it will shift for the first time since the standalone chapter that started the story to Fortrakt’s point of view as he gets double-teamed and simultaneously topped by both Tara and Gilda!
As for release schedule, I’m likely to have the new C&C chapter into prereads in the next two days, meaning you’ll likely see it published in the latter half of the week. Eros will take a bit more time--likely a week or two since I’m writing that one from scratch and not from a preexisting chapter. As always updates and possible teasers will follow as work proceeds.
Congrats on the milestone! May 16th, 2022 will mark my tenth year. Seems like it wasn't that long ago...
