So I have a request. I need someone who knows about the Umbrum.

Going forward I like to use the Umbram. However I need to figure out how they fit into my Prince of Dreams lore. I’m thinking that the Umbrum are matured free Tantabui.

However I don’t know enough about these comic book villains.

The tantabus is a dream demon/creature (created by luna) and the umbram are (if I’m not mistaken) shadow ponies (and an ancient race). Basically what I want to say is that they are different.

The umbrum are a race of ancient ponies from before the time of the light, oldest race on equis realy, however they are aligned with the dark and do not tolerate light and harmony well, hence why the crystal heart hurt sombra so much because he was half umbrum (if he was full umbrum it would have killed him outright even at the low levels it was being used at back then) most umbrum however were banished from equis long ago, there only tie back is thru certain magical crystals that can be found scatered throught the frozen north, sombra was the last living of there bloodline in in the physical world.

its very likely the shadow pony was an umbrum creation, though probly not an umbrum itself as they are not simbiotic by nature like it was...the ruin it was found in however looks umbrum in nature.

as for the tantabus, in the context of Freindship is magic it was a unique entity crafted by luna useing a fragment of her own spirit infused with her will to see herself punished for her past misdeeds, a 'demi nightmare' if you will, it was intended to only plauge her and fed on her pain and fear to sustain itself so she didnt have to keep intentionly charging it, however it grew too powerfull and became self aware and sought to move beyond its original intention...it was only bested when luna accepted and was able to forgive herself for her past transgresions and move on, at which point it became part of her once more.

if your also looking through the comic books for villain's related to nightmares I would look at, fiendship is magic issue 4. in this issue nightmare moon stumbles across a race of creatures on the moon called 'the Nyx' who are responsible for creating good dreams for the ponies below, however they get corrupted by Nightmare moon and now use their magic to give ponies nightmare instead

i often wonder if they are the same creatures that abduct rarity in the nightmare rarity arch.

regardless, I'm interested to see what you have planned for the Umbrum.

Thanks, I knew about Nightmare Rarity but not the Nyx. I won’t be using this information I figured out what I be doing.

Given I have Baku consuming nightmares and leaving good dreams (unless they eat too much and take those too) they take the role of the Nyx. Both good and possible bad.
