Intentional Shout-Outs and References in M.L.G.

Some background music. You're going to need it: we're going to be here a while.

    Status Update, April 2024 Edition

Part of my slowness in writing M.L.G.'s latest chapter is for the usual reasons: tiredness, minor depression, having other things on the mind, that sort of thing. However, in what can only be described as "whimsy", I've recently decided to complete a list of all of the intentional shout-outs and references in the story as of the most recent chapter.

    Something To Think About

I have a message to share with prospective authors. If you go into writing a story---be it as a living, or just for fun---don't automatically assume that what you're doing is wholly original.

    Tired, Running On Empty

That pretty much summarizes my mental state of the past few days. Constantly tired (half due to not getting enough sleep and half due to my walking regimen), and I can't really think of things I want to write for the story. You know you're having trouble finding things to talk about when your brain fishes for tuna, but ends up with guppies instead.

    So INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED Right Now

I copied the latest chapter of M.L.G. to my flash drive as usual. I took it home with the intent to post it today. I double-click the file.

To quote Marvin the Martian... · 12:48am Nov 16th, 2021

"Delays, delays!"

It's frustrating. I had the next chapter of M.L.G. on my flash drive at work. I put it in my pocket with the intent to take it home with me and post it when I was next on Fimfiction. I went to a local pharmacy to pick up some medicine. I go home, take everything out of my pockets, and discover that for some reason the flash drive wasn't in my pocket.

Either I accidentally pulled it out when I put on my mask at the pharmacy--which would make sense, since this was how I lost another mask when I went to the local medical center this past month--or I never put it in my pocket to begin with, and it's still on my desk at work. I want to say it's the latter, since I think I would have at least heard it clatter if it hit the pavement, but either way it's incredibly irritating.

In any event, I'll get the next chapter up tomorrow. Whether it'll be during my lunch break or at some point after work is contingent on whether I'll need to bring another flash drive with me. It's hardly the only one I have, after all, but I would still prefer not to lose it.

As a side note, for health reasons I'll be taking Humira to try to keep my Crohn's in check. However, I have heard about some fairly nasty side effects associated with its use, up to and including severe depression; one of our family friends has a grandchild who had to go off of it for this reason. So if ever I disappear from the Internet at large for more than three or four months... well, I figure all of you deserve to know.

That's it for now. Ciao mein, everyone.
