Work's picking up, and things keep trickling through. Progress has been made but not in a major way. Still gonna take a while. Now on to the recommendation.
Only Villains Do That

So, as we've established I'm a huge fan of isekai, something that has really tired out audiences in general or at least a decent portion of them.
After all, it gets repetitive when you have to watch "Protagonist template #27" aN OrDinArY HiGhSchOol Boi who was yeetted from japan, either by mystical mishap, random bullshit, or Truck-kun. Only to land in a magical world filled with possibilities where he, somehow, in this completely alien environment, can unleash his potential and become the overpowered badass that could be more accurately described as "An invasive Species of non native fauna"
And this story definitely has that, Yoshi is asked by the goddess of Good to be the hero for her broken world and to defeat the Dark Lord, an arrangement he enthusiastically agrees to.
Thank fuck he isn't the Main Character in this story.
No, that role lands in the lap of poor Seiji. A rather unfriendly musician who, to be completely honest, has ZERO interest in this world-hopping nonsense. Thing is, the goddess of Good isn't trying to recruit him, the goddess of evil is. And she didn't exactly ask his opinion on the matter.
Thrown into a world he doesn't understand, Seiji will have to become a Dark Lord for the sole purpose of being entertainment for the gods. Or else.
This story has wonderful worldbuilding. It feels truly alien, in place of a generic fantasy world we have a shattered planet, held together with spit and duct tape. Plants and animals unique to the world that shape it in profound ways. The author does a wonderful job of realizing this world.
Seiji is also a very interesting protagonist to follow. His viewpoint as an unwilling evil overlord, knowing he has to do evil or he WILL be on the receiving end of a "Very Bad Time" from his patron goddess. The allies he finds are hard-won, the battles he fights are decided by wit and skill, as he has yet to amas the power to truly establish himself. He has to build his empire of darkness, brick by brick and we get a front-row seat. If this sounds like your jam then this story is for you.
Work's picking up, and things keep trickling through.
Trickle harder! HARDER!~
I'll try to look at what you linked, though.
Neat
I'll give it a shot-- I've been loving Chrysalis, thanks for that recommendation by the way.

glad to hear you like it!
Hey wow. I'm actually really enjoying reading this. Thanks for the recommendation!
If you're interested in "MC has to pretend to be a villain" stories, check out Dungeon Keeper Ami, Sailor Moon x Dungeon Keeper crossover fanfic.
In which Ami Mizuno (Sailor Mercury) is transported to Dungeon Keeper world when pocket dimension collapsed, and accidentally became Dungeon Keeper to survive. She gets pretty overpowered, but her enemies are even more powerful, and she was forced to abandon everything and flee many, many times. Due to misunderstandings (and her own efforts to appear like that, under the threat of total Underworld crusade) she's labelled as evillest Dark Empress. She is not afraid to kill evil people (like all Sailor Senshi), but otherwise pretty much internally she's a 100% hero that's forced to fight good guys.
