My Little Pony G5 News 10/29/2021 · 1:31pm Oct 29th, 2021

Good girl, Izzy! Such a good girl!

*Turns around* Oh, didn't hear you come in! Hit the music!

GOOD MORNING, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for the Generation 5 and beyond! As of a few weeks ago, the movie just had its feature release on Netflix and it's one of the most positively praised features with a satisfyingly high percentage on the majority of feature film review sites (Even a solid percentage on TikTok if you can believe that?). Despite a few hiccups along the way, raising more questions than answers, and not to mention how pacing often affected the story at times, for all the good and bad thoughts from the fans this movie has truly touched on a modern issue and gave us that story of hope for a better tomorrow. So much an impact this movie left that there's been tons of fan art (Including G5 style animation of the G4 cast), music videos, and even a few fanfics from some rather talented FimFiction writers I personally know (For example my good friends Phantom-Dragon and up-and-coming author MaggieHeartsLove).

So when the fuck are you finally doing 'your' Fanfic?

I'M WORKING ON IT!!!! SHIT MAN, I'VE BEEN BUSY!!!

*Takes a deep breath, sighs* Anyways, you may notice with this blog that I'm not here to talk any more about the movie now that it's already out. And before you say anything, 'no' I did not forget about that anniversary for MLP (Specifically following G4's run). But to set the record straight, while everyone was out celebrating that momentous occasion, I was away for two weeks in North Carolina for a road trip. We've been to several corners of that state (Even stayed around Tennessee for a time), did plenty of hiking in the Smokies, saw some wildlife, a few zany shows, learned some history... and, this is a big one, I am now 'officially' a Landowner of my own property.

Wow... you must feel 'so' loved.

JUST LET ME HAVE IT!!! *Clears throat* Anyways, now that I'm back with my blogging deal (And having edited several projects in my spare time), I'm here because it's that time and place for a step forward with G5. Due to the heavily positive reception from the fans following the film's release, it's only natural that everyone's expectations are at an accelerated level with the soon-to-be release of some follow-up programs set to commence. Now of course, this was 'always' part of the plan from the studio behind the movie but whether or not G5 would move forward would ultimately depend on how invested we'd be with this new generation. I can thankfully say faithful viewers that fans have been piling for more G5 content.

MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE!

While we don't entirely know much about this upcoming series set to be released, we can start with one major announcement that had been released a while back. Thunderbird Entertainment, the parent company for 'Atomic Cartoons' (The studio behind the new G5 movie) had released a PDF on their website highlighting several released of upcoming media products and the biggest highlight to date revolves on continuing G5 right where the movie left off.

Although this looks like an early 80s thing where we clearly see the actor is in front of a green screen.

According to the PDF (Unless certain changes are brought up), we can expect four 44 minute specials for G5 as well as a total of twenty-three 22 minute episodes for the show's initial first season. Four specials ladies and gentlemen, definitely reminds me of two things: The early 80s run back when MLP had episodes that took up more than two parts, and on that latter note whenever G4 would start with a two-parter episode and end just as well. Although if there's one nitpick I do have with this announcement is that I'm so used to having a season where we either have 13 episodes or at least 26. Now it's not uncommon for some shows to have less or more than a certain amount, but one other thing we can note is Netflix's tendencies of releasing the entire season all in one day.

How would that effect my overall reviews of each episodes and specials as they come out? More on that to follow, but all I can say is that I do have my work cut out for me.

When do you 'not' have your work cut out?

Please...

In speaking of Netflix, they are already at work on some new content for the G5 series set to be released next year. We can confirm at this time that we shall open with a 44 minute mini-movie set for May, followed by the first season TV series launch in September, and before the year is over another mini-movie will be slated to air around Christmas time.

Thanks Jack... now as far as the television run is concerned, for the past few weeks there had been several rumors about what the new series has in store for our fans. While we hope the series' first mini-movie will ultimately answer a few questions that have been aching our minds (Like 'why' the ponies separated in the first place, if not 'how'), several storyboards and concepts were posted over on Equestria Daily highlighting 'possible' scenarios for the new series. Among the most popular of them all is the return of the Mysterious 'Mare' Do Well...

Just kidding... it's clearly Hitch in costume.

And the only other image aside from all the posts of Hitch dressed as a superhero for some reason is the fact that we may have an upcoming episode involving Pipp and Zipp, who many fans argued didn't make the most of their opportunity to evolve as characters during the film's initial run.

This would further support the fact there's still some unresolved tension.

But before anyone else says anything, I am aware of this one shred of bad news: Turns out all those potential plot elements for the series were all brought together by some rando who 'never' worked a day in 'Atomic Cartoons' in his life! As talented as the guy may be, the fact that he'd 'lie' about his involvement with the company either leads to the belief he's very insecure... or he's a load of bullshit. And we thought it was bad with Haven pushing the lie of her family's ability to fly...

Would you 'please' just let that go?!

But all jokes aside faithful readers, at the end of the day... we don't really know what's going on. I mean here we are today discussing what more there is to offer for the cast of the movie once they transition to television status. We don't know if even 'half' the cast will return for the movie (Or be replaced by veteran voice actors), we don't know if the animation will remain the same, heck we don't even know if the fans can stand to wait till May or if they are so caught up with so many other rising shows that this series could end up being an afterthought. Don't even get me started on the whole 'Alicorn' Sunny Starscout thing or whether it's even permanent.

Though I swear Argyle knows something we don't.

That being said faithful viewers, I can tell you this much: From the moment I saw this movie, I suddenly saw a glimmer of potential. That there's a bigger world and an even bigger mystery happening that even the movie itself could only show for it's limited running time. Somewhere between the time of Twilight's rule and possibly after her descent from the throne, something happened that sparked the fear amongst all the ponies (Blaming each other even for their problems). While I can't deny that there's no chance this series will ever be as popular as G4, not even close to topping it, I know this studio is going to do everything they can to give us stories not even the last series could give us. A chance to truly get to know our cast more than our initial impressions, with songs I'm sure fans will make covers of for months (If not years), and while we are given an Equestria not the same as before, I believe there's something new and wonderful to behold even if we don't know that yet.

But the bigger question remains faithful viewers: What do YOU think? Be sure to leave a comment below at your earliest convenience.

Until next year faithful viewers, this is the Dramamaster829... signing off!

Ooh! Cool that you're a landowner. Also, Pipp and Zipp clearly deserve an episode. And Hitch, maybe a Nightmare Night thing?

Yeah and I got a good deal after my parents bought their own. There was this half-off deal for an additional purpose of a second lot and I got the high end of that deal. Course, we still have to actually 'build' the houses, and determine how we're running it. Least we can visit them whenever we go up to N.C. next time and when not in use we can easily use them as BNB's. Provided they don't trash the place.

Pipp and Zipp sure could use an episode. Even though they did have that argument about the whole flying thing. Not to mention Zipp's reluctance of being future Queen when all she wants to do is fly like the Wonderbolts. I feel like those matters were unresolved (Plus we don't know if the family is 'truly' forgiven after that stunt in the movie).

It would be neat to see a 'Nightmare Night' episode. Even if we have to wait till another season like G4. But who knows? It be interesting to see Equestria's first Nightmare Night since ponies started to be friends again.

5601365
All very true. Hope the building the house goes okay

5601366
Well we haven't determined to the architecture. And add to the contrary, it's always been my mom and dad who talked about moving there. I never actually said I was willing to move away, having grown up in my own home for thirty something years. But let's face it: Back home the finances for the house, basically everywhere in my state, are insanely high. Plus, it would be a large adjustment to live in a state with twisting mountain roads and such (Don't get me started on how nervous I was with the drive).

5601367
Aw...well, still, good luck with the move and everything

5601368
Well we're not moving right away. But the likelihood of that occurring is when mom and dad ultimately retire from their jobs. Which they are getting rather close to.

Honestly, the only move I have expecting that's close is once again moving to another officer (My library recently just hired another librarian and chain of command says I am required to move).

Congrats on being the landowner Drama and looking forward to the upcoming G5 series and mini-movies; hoping they do a good job with it but to be honest, I don't anything can top G4, loving the blogs as always, stay cool, stay classy, stay awesome:raritywink:

Hopefully this new series and set of mini-movies should prove to be very entertaining. I don't expect them to be perfect necessarily but hopefully a show that at the very least makes the effort to give us something noteworthy. During the run of said show, I'll definitely have much to blog about as each mini-movie and episode comes out.

The two extra 44 minute programs makes me wonder the seasons will be split into halves. So they require a 1a closer, and a 1b premiere.

5601580
It is possible, if not probable. It could probably be both actually. Sending one bit of closure for at least the first half of the premier, and setting up for a brand new journey later on. Who knows?

Thats a mood, I have a fic i havent touched in years do to school being so stressfull. I can't wait for the upcoming holiday special. Im also betting the 2d parts might just be involved as flashbacks like they did in the film. Regardless the wait for gen 5can't get here soon enough. We can only bingewatch the movies so many times. Also not to be a buzzkill but that hitch animatic is fake.

5613249
Yes... I've been aware of that for quite some time. Even the Daily confirmed it was fake. Which is a shame really... could've made for quite an episode. Though why Hitch would go about dressing up as a female superhero is beyond me. Not to say the Mysterious Mare Do Well 'can't' be a male, but there'd have to be a slight 'name' change like 'Mysterious... Colt Do Well'? I don't know... it doesn't matter, it's never going to happen.

Anyways, there 'is' so many times we can binge-watch the movie. Me is mostly so I can have ideas on what to do with my own fanfic rendition of the story. Course, I have to get this opening done but... that shouldn't take too much time. After that, with the transcript of the feature itself, I'll do just fine. Even have my own editing team helping me as I helped them.
