Today I'm finally 21!
And should feel like this...
But if we're being serious, I actually feel more like...
It's a mixture of emotions.
My sister and I made up.
I can see my nieces again, super awesome!
But dad's no longer here.
My aunt's passed too.
Can't say my first year of adulthood was something, I really cherished at all.
Will the future pick up?
Are things finally back to normal?
Or is there something darker ahead?
Well I shouldn't dwell on the what ifs...My mom always said dwelling on the negativity, will just invite it in.
I feel blessed to be with my family, to have friends here who bring me untold joy, and of course happy to just be alive!
I love you all!
I don't say it enough, but this community is like a second family to me.

Oh, since I'm 21!
My sister has insisted on taking me out for a drink tonight.
Not sure if I'm ready for that, but I might take a sip...just to be polite.

1. The future in any point in time is much like the destination of a road trip, just getting there is only half the fun. Sometimes, it is better to just enjoy the moment without any specific plans in mind and whatever comes it is important to make the most of those moments.
2. As someone who has never believed in the concept of 'normal', to which I recall my own philosophy, 'Why be normal when you can be extraordinary?'. For years, people have struggled to reach their own destination of 'normal' but in doing so they only bring upon themselves some unnecessary stress that often leads to headaches. Instead of reaching for a goal which at times may be impossible to achieve, what's most important is to love yourself warts and all.
3. The negative aspect in every human being always expects the worst that can happen, almost everyone has those thoughts every so often. I've been encouraged to start thinking more positive more even though I have been guilty of worrying over things that should not be treated as a big deal because they can easily be resolved. Maybe instead of fearing of the dark elements that could transpire, ask yourself if there is any light at the end of that tunnel you are reaching for. Maybe this wasn't your best year, no year is ever 'everyone's' year. But the bottom line is: Between all the ups and downs life has to offer, it's important to treat it like turning a page in the story and how 'you' want your story to be remembered.
P.S. Congrats on hitting the big 2-1. Enjoy it and make the most of it while you still can. Because we are only '21' once in our lifetime.
