New Gen Head Canon [New edits] · 10:06pm Sep 30th, 2021
So how did we get to where we are today?
OK, right off I'm going to assume there are more than 3 communities of ponies. Only having the three isolated communities just doesn't make a lot of sense. Also, my idea's hinge on how long Canter Logic has been around. Twenty Moons we've been told. Twenty... only twenty... that's less than two years by Earth time, and yet I get the feeling twenty moons is a very long time. Only twenty months? No, it sounds more like they are talking years. [Did they mean Harvest Moons? That factory or at least the company has certainly been around longer two years. It can take up to 5 years to design a manufacturing center like that and another two to three years to build. And we know that Sunny has tried to crash the party before and now has a restraining order on her.]
What we do know is that the New Generation Equestria seems to have a fairly normal day and night cycle suggesting the planet at least has a fairly Earth-like rotation at this point. But Moons instead of years?
The notion that I've got goes back to how they finished G4. Tirek, Crysalis, and Cozyglow are locked in stone. It is also show canon that this spell has a finite shelf life of a little over a thousand years. That means that the spell broke and the trio was freed to enact their vengeance, and vengeance was had.
All magic was taken from Equestria and the tribes set to blame each other. [I've seen a lot of people saying: what about the Wendigos? Wendigos are dependent on the existence of magic. If Pegasi can't fly, neither can they. So once the magic is gone - no Wendigos. Even if they still exist they are now land bound and can't really do much.]
Mayonnaise was likely involved. I just know mayonnaise had something to do with it.
Every creature dependent on magic is likely gone now, and thanks to their own short-sightedness Tirek, Crysalis, and Cozyglow are now long gone as well. [Short of they saved all the magic for themselves.] The ponies of the Chrystal Empire would have been forced to move on to warmer climates, and Seaquestria, I shudder to think what may have happened to the Sea Ponies. [Do they turn back into Hippogriffs without magic? On the other hand perhaps they are fine and simply cut off all contact with the surface world.] The planet was set to rotate and just kept rotating, and the moon... Well, without magic you can't have alicorns. Celestia, Luna, Twilight, Cadance, Flurry, all mortal ponies after the loss of magic, all long, long gone. [Short of they figured out a way to preserve themselves to be thawed out when magic returned but I really don't see that. I do see the lighthouse and the crystals as possibly Twilight thinking of a clever way to rekindle magic.] No pony gets to be immortal though, not without some form of magic. There's no pony left with the ability to maintain the day and night cycle every pony was familiar with, and the moon literally takes a year to go through its phases. At least that's what I'm thinking.
It'll be interesting to see if the anticipated new generation series follows along these lines.
[One possible notion I've in my head: What if Fluttershy's bat pony form had turned her into a Vampire? Granted she'd be an apple Vampire, but I can work with that.]
