Well, I never played any of the Age of Empires games, so I don't really think I can judge it.
But it is definitely better than what I could do.

I have played Age of Empires 2 and loved it, had two saves. One meant for normal gameplay and progression, other i of course use cheats and mods and see how far i can stretch the game till it folds. it can stretch pretty far.
