    River City Equestria Girls?

Seriously, that's Pinkie Pie on the left, and Rainbow Dash on the right. Tell me I'm wrong.

I will not write a fanfic about the two of them getting into all the fights.

    Probably.

An "I don't have livejournal anymore" sort of update.

    It snowed yesterday.

Which just reminded me how much I don't like winter. It wasn't even a bad snow, just enough of a dusting to linger for a little bit. First one of the season. And I even had the day off from work, due to my schedule, so it's not like I had to do anything ...

    So I didn't.

    Happy Halloween!

So yeah. Despite various distractions (Steam had Darkest Dungeon for UNDER FOUR BUCKS), I've managed to hammer out a ridiculously shippy conclusion to the self indulgent Rarijack story I started.

So that's fun? I gave myself a deadline to finish things on Oct 31, so that's what I did, dangit. Hopefully you guys will enjoy.

Back in the proverbial saddle. · 8:11pm Jul 11th, 2021

This morning, I wrote a little under 500 words of pony story.

This is the most pony story I've written all year. Other projects (plus, you know, Real Life Bidness) have been keeping me busy, but for whatever reason inspiration struck, and ... here we are. Of course, 500 words do not a pony story make. Heck, what I've written so far isn't even a complete scene, but hey. Baby steps.

Ironically, on the flipside, I've found a little over 500 words that I'm gonna have to delete/rewrite in my current non-pony project, so ... hmm. Which makes me wonder if there's some sort of inverse relationship here? I dunno. Editing isn't nearly as fun as the initial draft. Harder to 'keep score' with word count or whatever.

So yeah. Probably going to be awhile before this pony story sees the light of day-- I still need to do more research. And by "research" I mean "drink a fancy beer and watch cartoons." I've at least got a general idea of what I'd like to do. And by "general idea" I mean "a handful of stupid jokes." And that's before other distractions popping up.

As one of the biggest distractions keeping me from bringing you the latest in BEST AT PONY fiction is the fact that ... Leverage is back! Check it out!

For those who aren't familiar with the show, Leverage is about a group of specialized thieves who go around playing Robin Hood, conning the rich and wicked out of their ill-gotten gains. So every episode is a heist episode. I've heard it described as a "genre show without the spaceships," and it's a really apt summary. The show's littered with snappy dialogue and goofy nerd references, making it super fun to watch. (Also, Gina Bellman. *fans self*) And now it's back in a sequel-ish series form! Stream-able for free, even. I'm only two eps in so far, but I'm trying to kinda ration the eps out instead of binging them all in one go. Though if I wind up running out of those eps I might see about trying to give the Korean version a watch, just for curiosity's sake ...

So, y'know, if you're looking for something goofy and optimistic and fun to watch until NEW PONY arrives, give it a watch! Don't let the fact that it's a show ostensibly for grown-ups scare you off.

I mean, honestly, between Legends of Tomorrow, Leverage: Redemption, and Super Cub, there's a lot of stuff I've been getting excited about lately on the television. Which, y'know, is nice when I'm in the mood to turn my brain off, but a little less conducive to writing silly stories of some stripe or another.

But hey, we'll see how things go. And heck, if you bribe me ask nicely, I might even be inspired to write pony sooner rather than later! Though that no doubt will be a monkey's paw sort of thing as whatever I wind up writing may not be what you WANT me to write. Or something. For I am a tormented and unappreciated artist. Or something.

But enough rambling, back to werk.

Glad to hear about the return to that saddle. Looking forward to whatever you have coming down the line, pony and otherwise.

Thanks for the heads up. I'd heard this was coming out but hadn't been following all that closely. Looking forward to seeing if they captured the old magic.

The obvious solution: write a ponified Leverage story!
