Season 1 Episode 10 Up! (June 7th) · 8:21pm Jun 7th, 2021

Hello my lovely readers! Episode 10 of Phoenix is up and ready for your viewing pleasure.

I won’t lie to you: this one is long. As in over twenty thousand words long. There was no suitable place to break it into two, and to be honest I didn’t want to. I like the idea of the last episode of the season being longer than the rest. Can’t promise it’ll always turn out that way, but it works well here.

And this is indeed the last episode of season one! Starting next week we’ll have season two, where we move on from all of this setup and into the ship’s adventures proper, set in the background of the Dominion War. This means there will be plenty of action to be had, but we’ll get our breathers too.

As Blue mentioned in the AN, we’ll be spacing out season two a bit more than season one was, but with miniepisodes in between. These Short Treks are meant for character growth, and to get a bit of perspective difference from Sunset and Twilight.

Incidentally this also allows me to better keep up with the buffer, given how busy I am during the summer with my work.

See you next time, everyone, for the premiere of season two! Have a lovely day.

Woooo! Onwards to season 2!

well this chapter will certainly keep me occupied for the day.

With season 2 being the adventures of the USS Phoenix, i think with it also being Star Trek and with everything that happens in TNG, i wouldn't think it would be beyond plausible to reference other science fiction in the adventures, be it video game or movies. I have been trying to find some crossover fics with Star Trek to like reference Red Dwarf, C&C Tiberium Saga, but not really finding anything.

Truthfully I'd prefer to keep it strictly to Star Trek and MLP. Adding extra universes isn't part of the picture at this time.

We need new intro music. ^^

Just finished season 1 today and it is one of my favorite crossovers. One the few that doesn’t blast off into silliness and leave the spirit of the characters behind. I will say this story does lean more heavily into the trek side of things more than MLP main characters excluded. But season 2 seems to (according to the sneak peek referenced in current chapter) bring things more Equestria side for some bit. It would be interesting to find out since Twily is not there how nightmare moon is stopped since she is not there to be the element of magic. How will Sunset fit into the lore of MLP now that she is an alicorn? Hmmmm maybe it is best that it was more based in trekverse versus Equestria but at some point it the subject of new Equestria timeline will have to be broached. I only hope that the including it will not take away from the quality of the first season.

Overall I was quite surprised in how good this story meshed the two IPs. The subtle nods to events in the TNG time was outstanding. One of my favorites was Sunset apologizing to to Kirk’s grave for disturbing it in looking for spare parts for a sub-space transmitter. Excellent, loved it and almost drew a tear from it.

The character development of both Twilight and Sunset are one the best I have had the pleasure to read in this story and can not wait for the next season.

Good job in combining two great universes rich in lore to give us a great new story.

Congratulations on a job well done.
