Early New Year's resolutions, and Old Year's conclusions

Well, another year's come and gone. How did the resolutions go? Half and half in my case. Managed to partially accomplish what I set out to do, moving from wondering how to do things to figuring out what to do. I believe I've successfully identified the habits that are hampering or even harmful to me, so that's progress.

    Resolutions for the new year?

Summer update 2: What's Sticking to the Wall?

    Quick update on future plans.

Still working on the original stuff, I think I'm down to the last rewrite of what I wanted to do, only question is what to change in terms of details. Art's had some progress, but work responsibilities and sweet, sweet sleeping problems have caused disruptions.

    Summer update: what next?

Honestly? Not sure. I never publish anything that's not complete, so I'm not breaking any promises there. Thing is, I haven't started on anything new yet, and hadn't lined anything up before the previous one.

May update: more issues in writing, physical, and a Cadence oneshot incoming. · 7:26pm May 12th, 2021

Laptop issues have not evolved for the better. Fans have completely locked, overheating can occur after two hours of watching videos, gaming is impossible. The weather continues to be charming.

Gonna start browsing the shops for a new desk and a desktop the next few weeks, probably try and get this thing fixed afterwards, since I do want an upgrade anyway.

Decided I should do a oneshot in between these projects that are dragging on. Went with a random generation method, landed on Cadence. More random generation, it's going to be a oneshot covering her learning how to fight, or fight better. Possibly it'll involve Thorax and Pharynx, but it'll definitely involve some tough love, a master abjurer at work, and soulsearching.

Said other projects, the My Fey Lady/Mother of Disasters story and the Bastion trilogy are still being worked on. Former's going pretty easily, but I'll have to re-watch a few episodes to get the structure right, as well as settle on the chaos ensuing when Flutterfey walks into Ponyville. So far there's Apple Bloom getting a lecture on the Great Seedling and using her clubhouse for ammo storage when she 'catches' Fluttershy in her new form. I'll probably add Pinkie Pie for one escalating scene to show off some new powers, no idea how to flesh that out, and a spa scene to remind Flutters of some weaknesses that come with being archfey. Might squeeze in Discord doing a "Rain in Spain" bit before the big confrontation with his mother, but that's undecided as of yet. I'm doodling all that as I go along. Bastion trilogy is progressing, still, second story is getting finalised, ish. Lots of re-writes and re-thinks have left it messy, to the point the first story needs a tweak here and there. Third one's still got everything intact, though, weirdly enough.

Look, I just need something to get finished for once. I need to do something else, just for the sake of doing it. That's why I went with the random element: I need to know I can still do it.

Been having some minor discomfort of a medical nature the past few days, too. Well, I say minor, it depends on your point of view. It's probably nothing, hopefully nothing, but it could be something. Pretty painful on Monday, little better Tuesday, now just aching when doing some pretty normal day-to-day tasks. Fortunately it didn't impede my job. Suffice it to say it's been scary, annoying, and I could no longer perform a pretty basic function of the human body. But getting better now, probably just an infection, here's hoping it clears by Friday.

Job's been going well, too. Not much to say there except I'm happy where I work and happy with what and with whom. After all the grief of college, pretty satisfied with how things are turning out so far there.

Song completely unrelated to ponies. I promise.

Cracker out.

Glad to hear from you, especially the better work environment. Looking forward to what you have in the pipeline.

(Edited for clarity and run-on sentences) I wouldn't say work has gotten 'better' yet, it's been pretty good even at the worst of times. Well, compared to college and the years after any progress would have felt like escaping purgatory anyway, but suffice it to say I'm using my degrees and teaching experience well in the workplace, and it's appreciated on both sides of the arrangement. It's a weird vibe to have something you're very pleased with, and at the same time have to keep quiet about to preserve it. Smells like a Greek tragedy waiting to happen, honestly.

As for the pipeline: yeah, I think the Fluttercord one, you'll like, this new Cadence thing can go either way. Just rolled the dice and tried a tarot reading for ideas and this is what the spread gave me, this is what I'm rolling with, gonna flesh it out tomorrow and try to aim for a quick release. We'll see if the creative muscle hasn't atrophied yet from all the overthinking. :unsuresweetie:

It might be possible to salvage the laptop, but I'm just gonna say get a freaking desktop already. You obviously want to do more than you are capable of, so stop stalling and get to it.

Indeed. Procrastination is a great luxury problem to have :pinkiesick: Settled on a new desk, at least, and pretty good idea what model of hardware I want.

It'll probably be salvaged or repaired in the end, I've done it before, just not with one this far down yet.
