Just your average writer. 14, freshman, and about two months being a brony. I absolutely HATE shipping, excluding the occasional Fluttermac or OC.

So far, it has received 26 upvotes and 2 down, so Starry has done pretty well. However, it appears to me I need to post a link for you all in a blog post with a title that is relevant to your interests.

    Good News

Okay, so I'm back. Don't get used to it because I'm probably not going make any stories. And if I somehow do, they won't be new chapters, but more serious stories.

Actually, the only reason I created this blog was to announce something spectacular... My boyfriend proposed!!!!

Just kidding. I'm a nerd, and therefore have no boyfriend or girlfriend.

Completely random thoughts on shipping that shouldn't affect you at all · 3:03pm Dec 2nd, 2012

Okie dokie. Here is my POV on a very common topic on not only this site or fandom, but on the entire interwebs: shipping. Now, I only know of brony ships, so please refer to only these.

First off, I don't always approve of it. But when I do, I prefer hetero ships. I'm not a homophobe, it's just that they are way more likely to happen, and I like realistic romances. Now don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the occasional Lyrabon, but that's about it (well, I did see a pretty nice Carmac...). I also strongly dislike Mane Six on Mane Six ships. They're friends for Celestia's sake! Why can't they just stay at that? I mean, I can sorta understand Appledash because they're Loyalty and Honesty, two of the most important elements in any relationship. And I can understand why others think Flutterpie is cute (hell, that's the one I'd choose if I approved). But seriously, can they just be friends? Pwease?

Alright, with that out of the way and completely irrelevant to my stories, I'll list the very few ships I'll consider giving a shot:
Feathertwist (obviously)
Soarindash
Lyrabon
Any canon ship, like Shidence or the Cakes
Fluttermac (see below)
Sparity (also see below)

Now, Fluttermac I like for one HUGE reason: they're too much alike to not be shipped! Both are shy, rarely talk and in my headcanon both like animals (wouldn't it just be uber cute to see Big Mac talking to a bunny?). I was introduced to this by Long Days, which is in my favorites, so check it out.

Now for Sparity. I'm not 100% sure on this ship. I mean, they're different species, but yet at the same time they look cute together. Maybe a pony Spike or dragon Rarity would suffice? Hey, I literally just came up with a fanfic idea just like that just now! It's mine! MINE! Um, if that's okay with you... (seriously, if you want to do that take it. I've got my own thing to do.)

So now that I've blown off this steam, please comment on your side of the story. But please, respect my opinion and I will yours. Just please, let's keep clop out of this (don't get me STARTED on clop!)

Dude, I completely agree with all of these

Oops, forgot to mention shipping foals. They're alright when they're the children of a hetero pair. I mean, unless you use a surrogate it is impossible to have two mares or stallions have a kid, cept maybe by magical nonsense reasons. I only like F/F children in the story My Little Mommies, where the plot makes sense and the parents aren't shipped.

Another thing I forgot to mention is incest. Bottom line: it's weird. I have a sister, and God help me if I don't love her. But DATE her? Buck no! Just, no...:pinkiesick:

I do have to agree with you. I like a couple of the shippings but its really overdone these days. I'd like to see some more fanfictions where one of the mane six meets a stallion. I'm currently working on a really long fanfiction right now where Pinkie Pie is going through that. ( Going to take a while to finish it).

It's fairly well established that the mare to stallion ratio is at least 4:1 if not something higher like 8:1, making F/F pairings not only possible, it should be statistically commonplace. I'm not saying the mane 6 will be one big clamfest (if you'll pardon the crass slang) but... seriously, with so few stallions to go around, I'm surprised the ladies aren't fighting over them... or sharing? Woo!

I can imagine in less sophisticated times the stallions were treated more like 2nd class citizens, perhaps worse, a treasured commodity (aka sex slave) to be jealously horded so your linage is guaranteed. Bit of a scary thought there, eh? Certainly nothing like the nearly 1:1 ratio we enjoy on Earth.

565157 I do very much see your point. That's one of the very few things I actually dislike about the show. I mean, I realize the target audience is little girls, but it doesn't hurt to make the ratio 1:1 or perhaps 2:1. I mean, when these girls grow up they'll realize your point and wonder, "What the f*ck?" Y'know one thing I'd love to see? A male alicorn, so that the Princesses don't seem forever (literally) alone.

565701

I thought we did have a male alicorn.... then he goes batcrap crazy high on crystals apparently. :pinkiecrazy:

565711 I don't think Sombra was an alicorn. I thought he was a unicorn...

566636

Hmmm....

Looking over the episode again I can't really be sure because of that cape.
Ok, I'll call it "inconclusive", Sombra may or may not be the only example of a male alicorn.
