It was winter, and the kids were having a snowball fight out in the front yard. Thorax, Pharynx, Ocellus, and Apex were on a team against Smolder, Ember, and Tempest. None of them minded too much about having uneven teams.

Metamorphosis chuckled as he stood at the doorway, arms crossed over his chest to warm himself. Chrysalis strode up to him, in a black jacket with green accents. Metamorphosis smiled at her as she approached.

"Well, what are your rascals up to this time, brother?" she asked, chuckling.

"Why, I thought it was obvious. Have you gone blind Chryssi?"

"Hey, watch it little brother, I got you a job."

"And the manager is very impressed with my unique skill set and I thank you very much."

"Oh whatever." Chrysalis rolled her eyes.

"Where's your sunny little niece?"

Chrysalis turned red, though not from the cold, and gave him a glare. "Sunset's not my niece, Meta."

"Not yet."

"Oh, you little-" before Chrysalis could say exactly what Metamorphosis was, however, a snowball hit her in the back of her head. "Ack! Which one of you threw that?!"

Chrysalis turned in the direction it came from and saw Pharynx looking in another direction, grinning slightly. Chrysalis' eyes narrowed.

"Pharynx you little brat-!" Another snowball hit her in the head. Chrysalis spun on her heel, only to see her own brother with his arm still thrust forward from the throw. "Meta!!"

"Ha! Double attack!" Pharynx called

"Want to make it triple?" Ocellus suggested

"Save your breath my little Bookbug, I've got this." Metamorphosis teased his adoptive daughter gently, before picking up some more snow.

"Oh, you want to play?!" Chrysalis scooped up some snow of her own, but as she stood back up, she realized Metamorphosis was gone. "Hey!"

Pharynx burst out laughing as Chrysalis turned to see her brother jumping the fence into his next-door neighbor's front yard.

"He got you with a Bait and Switch!" Thorax giggled

"The greatest spy in H.I.V.E can't tell what her brother's strategy is!" Ocellus snickered

"That's what you think! Metamorphosis you get back here!" Chrysalis shouted, rushing past them and leaping over the fence as well, continuing to chase her brother through front yards of other homes.

"So... now what?" Ember asked

"D'you think Zenny an' the Fangs will mind daddy an' Aun'ie Chrys running through their yard?" Apex asked, looking over at the first yard Chrysalis and Metamorphosis had run into.

"You saw how fast they were moving kid, the Fangs probably didn't even notice." Pharynx shrugged

"Mhm. So...anyone else want to go inside for some hot chocolate and dad's cookies? I think he and Aunt Chrys are going to be at that for a while..."

"You had me at Metamorphosis' cookies, let's go."

"But first...can we record a bit of that chase scene?" Smolder asked with a grin, holding up her phone.

"If you want I can activate one of Aunt Chrys' mini drones that she keeps in our basement and have it follow them. We can hook it up to stream to the TV." Ocellus suggested

"Even better!"

"I'll see your statement and raise you my help hacking into it to extend the flight radius so that we can watch them no matter how far away they go."

"Deal! Come on!"

"I'll make the popcorn!"

"I'll start hooking up the TV!"

"I'll get my phone so we can download it to MyStable!"

"I'll get a fire going and start the hot chocolate!"

"An' I'll ge' the cookies!"

With that, the kids headed inside, laughing and giggling.
