The Bi-Weekly Update: Road of Recovery · 8:54pm Mar 3rd, 2021

Hello again readers! I’m back! And I feel … Okay, well I’m not quite at 100% yet. I still slept until almost noon today, and am occasionally popping a cough drop into my maw to calm my cavernous coughs … But I’m definitely feeling more like myself than I have since last Friday. I’m hoping that by tomorrow I’ll be back to normal!

So, my (improving) health aside, what’s new?

Well, first let’s talk for a bit about Starforge. And I do mean for a bit, since I’m not about to drop spoilers here. But I can give you all the current wordcount of the first draft. Starforge has grown to 284,000 words. And it’s still climbing. I think by now it may already have more action than Colony and Jungle combined. Think. It’s probably close. There’s still a bit to go though, before it’s done. I’m going to venture a guess and say it’s about a third of the way through part three of four.

Yeah … lot to tie up with this last book. Lot to survive too. And I’ve almost said too much. So I’ll leave it there. Progress continues (especially now that I’m well again).

(surprisingly enough, not everyone who sees the premise of “dragon opens a bank” come on board immediately)

Truly? What a strange world we live in.

Glad to hear that you and your compy are both feeling better. That was pretty cool of your friend, by the way. The 1060 is a solid card, as I understand it.

And great to hear that Axtara continues to fare well and strangely.

Well, and then two people I've encountered have immediately responded with "Oh, so it's a YA version of 'The Dragon's Banker?'" Which is apparently a story about someone who becomes an accountant for a dragon. To which I really want to say "No, the dragon is the banker."

Yeah, it's a really nice gesture from them. They moved to a new computer and gave me the parts. The 1060, old as it is, is literally twice the power of the card I had. Massive stability difference too.

The 1060, old as it is

Hey, it's not that— Oh, I guess I did get mine (that's what I have) 5 years ago, but it's far from a bad card even now. I do forget sometimes that maybe I can't run a game at 2k and get 60 FPS, but I can get one or the other with little issue. Still, I also have firsthand experience of watching a recent AMD laptop graphics card crush my desktop 1060's performance in games recently.
