I hope that folks forgive me. · 2:56am Feb 21st, 2021
I'm a civilian. I've never served in the military, knew full well that I wouldn't do very well in such a setting. And yet, here I am, working on a story that revolves around characters who are active military, and doing my damnedest to not get it absolutely wrong.
But I'm bound to make mistakes, and sincerely hope that folks can forgive me for them.
Work continues on Tales from a Double Date. Chapter Two is still set for March, and Chapter Three will likely follow in April.
You don't even have to ask. I know that you do your best with this stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing where this story goes.
(And frankly? I think unless the depiction of military is outright insulting - be it "Militaries are Useless" trope, or having the army be filled with Sociopathic Soldiers - then most stuff can be met without anger. It's one thing to just be clueless about the chain of command or how certain aspects of army life work. It's another thing entirely to demonize it.)

I have no plan or desire to demonize military units or paint them as useless. That's been one of my goals with the Quiververse, to make the Equestrian military not look like a joke, and I like to think I've made progress on that front. I'm not going to say that I'll paint them as perfect, mind you - no organization is - but I certainly don't plan to paint them as monsters.
Plenty of other monsters exist in my stuff as it is.

Glad to hear it.
