I finally designed him!!
Also here’s his baby behavior: clumsy, overly curious, bit of an airhead, prone to accidents, constantly hungry, whiny, literally smells everything, and touch starved for no reason at all (James literally just fed you some love damnit)
His siblings were both terrified and fascinated by him at the same time... but mostly terrified (might design them later on)
So I portray changeling babies or grubs as simpler to raise than pony foals, it really depends on who’s raising them. They don’t feed on solid foods until they decide to (commonly at the age of three or four, mothball didn’t want to eat solids until he was five), so they’re fed the love from their parents as a parents love for their child is limitless. Since it’s not a physical substance, they don’t need diaper changes, just need extra love and attention. (Once their body develops properly they’ll be able to use the bathroom, potty training mothball was HELL for Lily and James)
Also a common joke among their species is that they’re such a large population because it’s not only painless to birth an egg but also extremely fast (three weeks of forming in their stomach before coming out, and another three months before they hatch into this world). Let’s just say Lily didn’t know about this fact and figured that her third child was going to be born normally, you can imagine her surprise (horror) when she woke up to see her husband cradling a glowing egg on the floor

I was inspired by the show’s and Lopoddity’s design for changeling babies, plus I think it’s pretty cool cause their species is depicted as bug-like in the show and larvae/grubs are baby insects
