The Colors We Paint: the Thought Process Behind Writing "The Colors We Wish For"

Hello, Sunlight Rays here, and I’m here with another Writing Of blog post. It’s been a hot minute since the last time I did this; I didn’t do this for… More than two years. Jeez. But I feel the need to write a blog post accompanying this new story of mine. As in, I have to write this. Because this is the most personal story I’ve written since End of the Line, and The

    It never gets easier...

Hey guys, Sunlight Rays here, and I'm back with another blog.

It might as well be the last blog post I make in a very long while.

It's... well, this ain't easy no matter how many times I do it. It never gets easier. I don't think it ever will. But it has to be done, doesn't it? So I'll do it. It's going to be painful, but I'll still do it.

August Report: Lots of Things to Come

Hey guys, Sunlight Rays here, and I'm back for a brief update on how things are going.

The last blog was a bit of a vent, and I apologize if I made anyone uncomfortable with it. I assure you I'm feeling better. Not substantially, but at least by a bit.

    Status Report: Sick of Myself

Sunlight Rays here, with another blog post.

As you can most likely tell from the title, I am not doing so well. I don't lie with the titles I make, after all.

Recent events have had me think about myself: about the things I've done, both to others and myself, and their consequences, about how I've constantly failed others' and my own expectations.

Alright, it's been a very, very long time since the last time I did anything like this. It was for a good reason, too, as we all know. (wink wink)

Simp Wars Ep.3: Gift of the Pegasi by Flashgen · 8:26pm Dec 25th, 2020

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Even in these taxing times, Hearth's Warming has come around once again. And as a participant of the Jinglemas 2020 event, I had requested a story: one that had either Twilight or Rainbow Dash, preferably Slice of Life or Romance.

Yesterday I got my story. And, let me be honest, I couldn't have asked for a better Jinglemas story.

I present to you, Gift of the Pegasi by Flashgen.

EGift of the Pegasi
It's the first Hearth's Warming since Twilight and Rainbow Dash started dating, but that doesn't worry Dash. She should have no problem getting the perfect gift for her marefriend.

During my one year and four months' stay on Fimfiction, I came across a lot of romance stories, and a lot of shipping along with it. So far I've encountered AppleDash, TwiDash, FlutterDash, RariDash, PinkieDash, RariJack, SunTwi, TwiLuna, the list goes on. And while I'm not particularly biased against any ship—good character development and detailed depiction of emotion are enough to satisfy me as a reader of a romance story—I do have a preferred ship.

And, well, I got that ship as a gift.

That would have been enough of a present to make me happy. But nope, Flashgen went ahead and absolutely nailed every single aspect of the story. I won't go too much into details because of spoilers, but the characterization of Twilight and Rainbow was flawless. The conflict and plot development was also S-rank, and the story's resolution was done in a very natural manner. In short, I couldn't have possibly gotten a better Jinglemas gift than this.

Shoutout once again to Flashgen, who wrote this story for me! This was one of the best, if not the best TwiDash fic I've ever read, Flash! Thanks for putting your time and effort into writing such a good story, thank you for writing it, and wish you a Merry Christmas! Cheers!
