Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising

Prereader verdict on new Midnight Rising chapter is in...

And unfortunately, that verdict is unanimous:

Complaints were: too meta, hard to follow, does nothing to advance the plot, and potentially makes things worse while trying to fix them.

Still waiting on Midnight Rising prereads...

Which are particularly important this time, because the first preread I got back was negative. As it came from AJ_Aficionado, whose opinions I particularly value mostly because he’s more interested in the story than the sex, I tend to give what he said about it credence but still want to hear from everyone else before I start making changes to the new chapter.

Mind changed on removing the griffon arc from Midnight Rising + teaser

After receiving pleas from multiple readers to keep the Enter the Griffon chapters in place, I have decided to do so and go with my original plan, which was to simply offer new readers the chance

    One final thing...

I have been advised by no less an authority than CHS acting Vice-Principal Ms. Cheerilee to use the upcoming Midnight Rising chapter as strictly a recap to relaunch the story, and not get into Lemon Zest until the following chapter, when I can devote a full entry to it without any split in focus. No, really. She did. You’ll see what I mean when the chapter launches, but basically, I’m

So I'm considering... · 8:07pm Nov 20th, 2020

Releasing the updated Midnight Rising chapters as new chapters, as they're that different at this point, and deleting or at least unpublishing the old ones.

It used to be that deleting a chapter meant you'd lose any comments attached to it, but that appears to no longer be the case. In fact, I've not only heavily edited but added over 2k words to the Sunny Flared chapter (chapter 4) over and above what it was before. It's now much more fleshed out with a lot of back-and-forth between not just Sunny and Midnight, but Sunny and Indigo, and has plenty of additional spice.

I'm still thinking about it, but don't be surprised if you see a new chapter release for it over the next couple days. I'd be hoping to both pull in more new readers and interest older ones in the updated chapters. They're significantly improved, with a lot more detail and dialog as I attempt to address the concerns shown in the story review. To say nothing of make it more nicely mesh with Nightmare Night.

About time on that, whenever the change occurred.

I'd go ahead and do it. Get it back to the front page.

Looks like I have to take that back. The old comments were not saved on one of my other stories when I deleted old versions of chapters. So I'll have to unpublish only for this story.

Done.

I always shudder when someone asks that question, but in this case... it's done. Story relaunched with the first four updated chapters published.
