My TV Show Review on Phineas and Ferb · 12:57am Nov 16th, 2020

Yo, what's up, Kemosabes?

This is your friendly film, TV show, and episode reporter here with another review.

Today, for my 25th TV show analysis, and the 2nd installment of my "Thanksgiving Treat", I'm gonna give you guys my take of "Phineas and Ferb".

Here's the rundown of it:

Phineas and Ferb are two stepbrothers who frequently invent things in order to have fun and create the best Summer Vacation ever. In every adventure, they are often accompanied by their friends Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, Buford Van Stomm, and Baljeet Tjinder.

However, Phineas and Ferb's older sister, Candace, constantly tries to bust her brothers by showing their mother what they're doing, particularly because she's jealous and believes everything they do is dangerous.

Unknown to any of the siblings, their pet platypus, Perry, is a secret agent who frequently goes off to foil the plans of the evil Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, whose goals are often either to take over the Tri-State Area, find a way to become rich, or enact revenge against someone he has a grudge towards.

After previously reviewing "Phineas and Ferb: Christmas Vacation", "Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension", and "Phineas and Ferb: Candace Against the Universe", making an analysis of the show as a whole became a particular priority of mine. I had been wanting to do an analysis of the program for quite some time, and if not for sharing a Disney+ account with my 1st eldest sister and brother-in-law...well, I'm not sure how that would be possible due to its lack of availability on other channels.

I remember the first time I watched "Phineas and Ferb" was when I at one point got home from school, and when my usual programs weren't on I switched to Disney Channel for some reason. When I stumbled upon the show, the first episode I ever watched being "Greece Lightning/Leave the Busting to Us", I was immediately entranced.

And let me just say that watching this show in order to review it...was like reliving my childhood. Everything about it was as vibrant and fun as I remember it being.

For instance, the overall writing and direction for the series was total awesomeness!

Even today, I can hardly deny that everything about the show was instantly original, inspirational, and unique. Whenever I look back on the show or think about it, I'd find that no other show has ever been set during an entire summer vacation before nor featured kids taking the concept of fun to the kind of height the title characters and company went. The same with a pet platypus who's secretly a spy fighting a mad scientist and an older sister trying to bust her brothers, really. The way the show team was able to connect all three plots together was likewise an example of creativity at its highest, and so was their ability to use the usual plots with the characters while freshening them up at the same time. They'll change things up when you least expect it too. In addition, the comedy aspect of the show was hysterical! I literally can't recall finding a single joke that didn't make me laugh, and a big part of that is because they were able to make any gag fun. The series wasn't without emotional resonance and heart either, which particularly came in the form of the depicted family bonds, friendships, and romances.

The animation was amazing, if I may add. I love how the directors and animators were clearly having all the fun in the world working on this show. At every opportunity given, they would take risks and do things that no one had ever thought would be possible to do. It's particularly astonishing how they'd bend reality at times, and the use of hand-drawn animation showed that the style is hardly outdated and that you don't need to make every project computer-animated.

The music by Danny Jacobs, and the songs that were featured in the series, were marvelous as well. In every song I've listened to, the lyrics would have a bounce and rhythm that would make them enjoyable to listen to, and Jacobs and the songwriters weren't afraid of experimenting and giving the show a musical variety either. Plus, the melodies carried an astounding sense of fun and emotion that made them so powerful.

Finally, the voice acting, casting, characters, and character development were fantastic. I deeply admired the great amount of ethnic diversity amongst the characters, a prime example being Baljeet Tjinder being from India. The characters themselves had a wholesome innocence that made them irresistible, and the personalities and depth each of them had (aided particularly by strong and passionate vocal performances from the cast) helped them be far from lifeless. It was Candace and Heinz Doofenshmirtz whom I thought developed the most throughout the series, and the performances of Ashley Tisdale and Dan Povenmire were terrific!

In conclusion, "Phineas and Ferb" is undeniably one of the best cartoons I've ever watched. It's original, funny, has some of the most awesome characters ever, is perfect for the whole family to enjoy, everything!

So, I rate "Phineas and Ferb" five out of five stars.

To Dan Povenmire, Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, and Disney: I know that I didn't make any individual reviews for the episodes starring Meap, but...I encourage you guys highly to please create a follow-up series for the latter "Meap Me in Seattle". And while I am aware that the trailer of "Meap Me in St. Louis" that came at the end credits of "Meapless in Seattle" was likely meant to be a joke, I deeply hope to see that trailer be the inspiration for a TV special or film.

Still waiting for Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia.

Regarding Dan and Swampy, I hope they get a chance to continue their work on Milo Murphy's Law. Last I heard, that series was being shelved even though a ton of loose ends were still left hanging. :fluttershysad:

Have you seen RWBY? If you have, what are your thoughts?

What does RWBY stand for?

Perhaps a review on the first and second season of the show could give them and Disney encouragement to continue the series, no?

Apparently, the fate of the third season is going to depend on Disney+ viewership. :ajbemused:

Spoiler alert, in case if you haven't seen it.

The show was named after the central protagonists: Team RWBY--Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long--hence the title 'RWBY'.
