By that same token she should be good at basic cooking as well as it's equally scientific. Specific temps, viscosity, thermodynamics, maillard reaction.

Could she cook like a Southerner? Like AJ's family does? No. We cook by adding ingredients until we hear our ancestors whisper "that's enough child"

But cooking basic meals? Sure. Following a recipe? For sure.

The more elaborate meals like French cooking where it's as much about atmosphere as it is about presentation and taste, not only could she probably not do that I think she'd probably turn her nose up at it.

But I can totally see her getting into the chemistry side of cooking like molecular gastronomy. Seriously if baking is chemistry (and it is), molecular gastronomy is food alchemy.
