My Episode Review on The Three Stooges: Grips, Grunts, and Groans · 5:43pm Oct 27th, 2020

Yo, what's up, Kemosabes?

This is your friendly film, TV show, and episode reporter here with another review.

Today, for the 11th installment of my "Spook Spectacular" series, I'm gonna give you guys my take of the Three Stooges's "Grips, Grunts, and Groans".

Here's the rundown of it:

After stowing away on a train and escaping the railroad police, the Three Stooges unwittingly get a job as employees of an athletic club. There, they meet the club's leader, Tony, and a champion wrestler named Ivan Bustoff.

However, when Bustoff falls unconscious after drinking too much, the Stooges realize that their lives are hanging by a thread and that it's imperative that they revive Bustoff before a wrestling match he's supposed to be in commences?

Can they wake up the unconscious Bustoff? Or are they dead ducks?

I know that this doesn't relate at all to Halloween, but I had this review ready to go anyway and wanted to post it as soon as possible.

Next to many of the other Three Stooges shorts that I reviewed, "Grips, Grunts, and Groans" is another one of the best Stooges shorts I've ever watched! One of the funniest too.

The direction by Preston Black (Jack White), and the story by Searle Kramer and Herman Boxer, were outstanding!

When it came to making this short funny, the production team gave their all and didn't mess around. They incorporated an energy that made the short nonstop fun to watch, and the gags landed with terrific timing and fluency. Along with that, the scenes and moments full of tension and high stakes were marvelously well-done, because they projected how serious the Stooges's situations were.

Finally, the performances of the cast and the characters were as stellar as ever.

In this very short, the Stooge team were apparently on their A-game. Every moment with them was an absolute blast, because I laughed at all of the gags used with them and they helped me get engaged in the short like a magnet. Plus, the best moments came from that of Curly, especially whenever he went crazy after smelling Wild Hyacinth perfume. I would also like to add that Chuck Callahan's portrayal of Tony, who is Bustoff's trainer and the leader of the mob betting on him, was terrific. His character was an intimidating force to be reckoned with, that's for sure.

In conclusion, "Grips, Grunts, and Groans" is another winner of a Three Stooges short, as well as one of the team's best works. I'm glad that I decided to review this short next, that's for sure.

So, I rate "Grips, Grunts, and Groans" five out of five stars.
