It happened during Chemistry. A certain acquaintance of mine (who has known of my bronyhood for a few weeks) was pestering me. More specifically, threatening to blackmail me with my secret (29 free internets to the person who guesses what the secret is) if I didn't say a certain word which I find inappropriate in public use (for the record, I don't swear. I don't really mind other people doing it, but I don't. I just don't.).
So, here I was, with a near life-threatening decision to make. I took a massive risk. I took a deep breath, looked the girl who my acquaintance was planning to reveal my secret to in the eye and said:
"I'm a brony."
Call me crazy, if you will.
I received a confused look. Clearly, she didn't know what a brony was. So, my awfully, incredibly amazing acquaintance took the unexpected liberty of getting out his iPad to show her exactly what a 'brony' was. Unfortunately, being him, he didn't just show her a definition. It was, in fact, this exact picture:

Anyway, the first reaction was, naturally, laughter. She then gave me this odd look and said:

Dadadadada! was my interruption. This continued for a bit until the end of Chemistry.
Then, I had a private word with her, saying that is was a TV show, and my 'obsession' was actually merely a hobby. I then asked her politely not to tell anyone.
I shouldn't have bothered.
Geography went smoothly enough, and my acquaintance realised exactly how big s mess he had just caused, then agreed to try and help me fix this before the problem got too big. The attempt was an utter failure.
The chaos began when a guy in my year saw me and started saying "my little pony, my little pony" in the most self-esteem crushing way possible. I then tried to outrun him with my acquaintance. We went through the canteen to tell one of the more understanding friends of mine of the now serious problem. He wasn't really much help, so we needed to find the true extent of the damage. Two girls simultaneously saying 'brony' to my face didn't help my mood much.
So, down we went to the Link. I sat at a table with my acquaintance, then a group of boys came over and asked "are you a brony?"
Time to fix this, I thought.
"Yes, I am. You got a problem with that?" Gosh, that felt good.
"No, it's just a bit... Weird." Typical.
I went outside to the English mobile and sat near the tennis courts. Then, the worst nightmare occurred. A group of those social addict type girls came over. Naturally, they knew. I was asking them why they felt it necessary to pester me about it, then one girl randomly said that she was one.
She then said that she talked all the time to SapphireBlitz about it (btw, to you, it was J. Rankin). I... Don't believe her. Then, the girls left and there was pretty much no mention of it at all.
Okay, Time to get is straight
So your acquaintance (Ryan Simpson) had shown her the definition of what is a brony and showed an image...
Could I ask what the image contained?
Also about the girl you told that you were a brony, that was quite a bad idea wasn't it...
Considering more than half of our year in the school are social addicts its no big deal that they think we are weird; In fact, when I started being a brony (back in 2010) I was a closet brony. But then I met some other bronies, who helped me overcome the shyness. So I decided to also leave the idea of being a closet brony and told people.

It wasn't such a great idea.
The very next day, people crowded me,calling me gay, saying that I apparently wanked over ponies and that I was a freak. But you know what, I didn't even care.
Trust me, after some time, it will be forgotten by the people. In fact someone else might become a brony! (It could be influenced by another or just becoming one on their own)
I could go on about my self esteemed, but it isn't necessary!
And just to clarify, she is in fact a brony!

Things started swimmingly, with only one mention at breaktime, to which I ignored. It all went a bit awry after lunch, once people started asking me the dreaded questions.
"So, [my real name], who's your favourite pony? Twinkle Dash? Rainbow Dash? Cutie Pie?
Had I thought of it at the time, I would have said confidently "Actually, it's gotta be Applejack." I also considered smashing his face in, but I just walked away silently. How petty of me.
There was some small talk in the library, but it was the last I heard of it today.

It's a common misconception that the Moon is called Luna. The Princess of the Night actually named it Lunos (essentially a male version of Luna), partially after her own name, but not too much so that she sounded arrogant. Also, if she were to name it Luna, it would almost certainly cause confusion and (possibly) panic among the uneducated, because of the confirmation of the actual existence of Equestria and its residents.

And here I thought it was going to be bad.
Only mentions of The Event were at breaktime, when I finally unleashed my Applejack statement, 100% confirming that I was, indeed a brony. There was minor nagging about it, but nothing I couldn't handle.
The real surprise came in the last two periods, which happened to be Art. While I was looking for a template to chalk around onto my waxed cloth, I simply overheard a voice ask:
"[Classmate], are you a brony?"
While it was unexpected, it started a chain reaction, geared directly towards me. Following the three C's of coping with stress, I remained Cool, Calm and Collected. It somehow worked, when another guy seemed to want to know more. Even once I had threaded the needle and begun to sew (for the first time in my living memory), he seemed unusually keen to ask me questions.
"What actually is a brony?"
This got a blank stare from me.
"Well, I know they're boys who like My Little Pony, but what actually are they?
Another blank stare.
I hurriedly told him about the different generations of MLP (it didn't really help that he hardly knew what My Little Pony even was), but his genuine interest was pulling at me. The fact that he called me his 'brony-pal' halfway through the second period was not at all subtle. I proceeded to tell him about what the fandom does, when I had an idea.
"You should watch Ballad of the Brony."
He took up on the offer. Afterwards, he seemed convinced enough to give the show a try as well.
You know what this means? I may very well be on my way to have essentially single-handedly converted a non-brony in less than an hour.

Well, things aren't really going too bad. About the revealing thing, there was a big thing at lunch the other day - lots of questions were asked, and a "just because you're gay" did not go unnoticed. However, Sapphire Blitz was there to back me up.
And, to everyone else, the guy who was interested in the whole concept...
Well, he told me he watched the first 20 minutes or so of Ballad of the Brony, then put on the first episode. Apparently he got round to the Apple Family Reunion before stopping (he didn't really elaborate on that part).
Sapphire recommended I show him Lesson Zero, so I emailed him it along with The Manliest Brony in the World and Becoming a Brony.
In other news, I discovered how to use the correct combination of links, websites, file types and synchronisation to convert a YouTube video into an MP4 suitable for iPad use. I successfully managed to put This Day Aria in 1080p into the videos.

A YouTube Brony called SaberSpark uploaded a video called Ballad of the Brony a while ago. It's basically a fan-made documentary where he explores the history of MLP, the current show (and its plots (storylines), characters and other details), the bronies and their history, the fandom and something else. Can't remember.
It's a little over an hour long, but it's a great watch for fans and others alike. If you have some free time, you should go check it out.

Well, I'm good now. Sick, but good. I hope I didn't worry you with my rl problems, that's not bothering people on the internet is all about! Anyway, when introducing people to mlp, I've always found to skip all of the fan videos and just go straight to an episode. The pilot, while may be the first two episodes, may not be the best place to start. What I do is just find one that may interest them. Lesson Zero, I agree will be what a lot of people will find something they like in, being a more action orientated episode. Well, that's the one that worked with this guy who liked MW games...
Well, I'm actually surprised that your revealing caused such a ruckus. I mean, a Q&Neigh session? You must be popular or something. The biggest thing that happened to me, and this was quite recent, was that I had to sing the Cupcake song in my English One Class. We never do much in that class anyway, and this girl was just singing random popular pop songs, until this other girl who knew I was a brony said "Hey, (my name)! You should sing the Cupcake song!" So I was like "Naa man." and everyone was like "Yeah man, do it!"
So this 3rd girl offered me a chocolate bar and the teacher actually was going to give me extra credit. So I did it, and everyone actually clapped and no one did anything negative or anything. Don't know if anyone cares, but that's what happened.
But, for my big revealing, wasn't even as interesting. It was actually because of this girl saying something needed to be about 20 Percent Cooler (it was 2011, that joke hadn't gotten old yet!), and I was just "Oh my goodness! You're a brony!" and she said "Yeah". Anyway, someone must have overheard and told some people, because people started coming up to me saying stuff like "Do you really like My Little Pony?" and things like that. I of course denied nothing and people were just okay with it. I mean, besides what happened above and the incident with that black guy, nothing really interesting happened, except I that girl became my friend and it was the first time in school I wasn't all reclusive because she and I just formed this group of friends with these two other guys and we got really popular somehow even though I'm still extremely socially awkward.

Perhaps, for better understanding, I should have revealed a little more of my background. I, for lack of a better term, had a reputation. Actually, scratch that - I still have it, but ever since the whole thing started last Monday, it seems to be slowly crumbling - honestly, it's no big surprise. Some people over here are just completely intolerant to sudden change, so they resorted to the one thing which they seem to think helps them cope. This varies between individuals, but the general target for those who haven't been given the information they should have about these things is, in short, bullying. I could go on about the irony of the ordeal (considering the message of MLP:FiM is the complete opposite), but it's not really that hard to understand.
Your story, while it seems reasonably uneventful or non-impacting, I find it quite interesting. I'm glad that most people didn't really let the fact that you watch an (alleged) show for little girls change their opinion about you. I guess it just proves that some people are more tolerant than others. Over here, things are gradually dying down, but I expect it'll still be brought up in the weeks to come. Still, th only thing I can do is cope, so I'll be sure to do my best to do so. I suppose I should thank you (and the others in this chat) for your support in my case.
