shhhhhhhhhhhh just breaking the site again don't mind me

very, very, very experimental fic continues its slow progress as the deadline for bicyclette's sci-fi contest draws near. these chapters are about on-par with what if in terms of length, but oh boy have they been an interesting experience to write.

hey hey btw i've got a (couple of) public minecraft server(s)!

yeah so anyway here is my webbed site lol. there's an MC Classic server for building whatever, and an MC Beta 1.7.3 server for playing survival. I might eventually also put up a modern vanilla server as well, though given how I'm hosting a bunch of servers already for friends and a couple of discord servers, idk if the little slab of a PC I'm using to host 'em all would be able to manage lol.

summer break is almost here :V

basically got one week left lol. got an experimental fic in the works that's a sort-of direct sequel picking off right where Splintershard ended. no prior reading is necessary.

MAN it's been a while since I've toyed with writing styles.

Just a bit of reflection on what I want to do in my spare time. · 6:56am Oct 12th, 2020

'Cause 1: I was supposed to have fall break this week, but it got cancelled 'cause Covid.
And 2: I really don't have very many resources to start a new hardware project, so I'd might as well do something else.

Also, I haven't had the time to even try setting up a GoFundMe for my dog yet. :P

But anyway, here's some thoughts on some of the stuff I'd like to try doing:

  1. First and foremost, though I'm definitely still a novice at best, I'd like to try writing a Java program that'd work off the structure of my story planning doc. This way, instead of searching through a table of contents filled with headers and sub-headers, I'd be able to instead maybe use a series of drop-down menus, or even just look up a database. Ideally, I'd be able to also modify that same planning doc within the program as well. Where I currently stand, I only have minimal experience with opening files at all from within a java program, so this project is likely a long way off.
  2. The first project idea is already a long shot. This one? This one's a moonshot. Using the planning docs generated by the previous program, this one would use two neural networks: One to generate dialogue and actions in script format, and another to check the generated content against both the planning doc and previously-generated content for consistency. Basically, a little story generator that you'd be able to throw characters and a scenario at to get a story out of. Obviously, this one is probably years off.
  3. Getting onto the more realistic side of things, I'd like to spend some time adapting both Splintershard and Pony-Me to original fiction. The former is likely going to be far easier than the latter to adapt, as Splintershard was written with adaptability in mind from the very beginning, whereas Pony-Me's existing work towards adaptation has already burned through two drafts and still remains incomplete due to the amount of rewriting that's needed.
  4. Lastly, I want to try and reboot my high school capstone project that got nuked by the virus and associated lockdowns. I really don't have the resources for the hardware side of things, but I could maybe still work with schematics, and maybe even circuit simulation!

That's all. Now I'ma get to writing another Splintershard chapter. :P
