Okay so my family and I all bugged out to my uncle's house in a nearby city, been here for a week. All my current computer equipment, as stated in the last blog, is safe. I brought my laptop too, but I grabbed the wrong power supply and so I've had to make due with just a tablet this week. Today we drove back home since my house is literally JUST on the other side of the particular road they're using as the dividing line between the "evac warning" zone, and the "mandatory evac" zone. The road itself was blocked by CHP but we hung out for a few minutes and they had a patrol car escort us over to our house. I'm glad to report all three of the outside feral cats that hang around our house were still hanging around, and we put out a shit ton of food them. I also got to get my proper power supply, among other things, and now I have a proper laptop to browse with. Might catch up on some reading or do some side writing that I can shift over to my computer when they call it safe.
So far it seems unlikely that my house will burn down, and we'll see how THAT goes, but so far we've been very lucky in all this. Hoping that luck holds up. Still no idea how long it'll be before they unblock roads and let people go home.
That's good to hear.
