19 years and where we are now · 4:30pm Sep 11th, 2020

it's been 19 years since 9/11. a horrible event that made all Americans unified in sorrow, fear, and then anger. United We Stand was the motto. Perhaps the greatest sadness is that THAT horrible event couldn't keep us unified for even a few years. And now we are at the point of Civil War for my country. Where a seven year old is attacked by two grown women, or a man simply walking at night murdered. And there only crimes was support one party over the other. As Americans we can have different views or policies and we should be free to debate them civily with each other but no. Now one side has to fear even stating their view will get them beaten horrible, or even killed. How horrible a situation. You don't agree with my side. That's fine, that's American. but if your side is doing this. I strongly urge you to reconsider who you support if those that say they want what you want but are willing to beat and maybe even kill to enforce their view. 19 years ago it did not matter what party, what race, what gender you were. We were all Americans. Today we can even agree on how to deal with a virus. How sad. Is this the America those people 19 years ago died for?

Well said.

I see it as human nature and it's only going to get worse. For a race (humanity, not white, black, etc) that claims to be ever moving forward, we seem to be extremely talented at bringing the past with us and trying to use it as justification for even the worst crimes that are nowadays committed for the most pathetic of reasons. I imagine everyone who died for this country, most, if not all it's previous leaders, and more are all rolling in their graves right now because this is is definitely not what any of them envisioned for this country.

could not have said it better myself

This happens cause we as a nation allowed to be lazy and not hold our government and those either elites, businesses or individuals accountable, that have worked to enrich themselves by destroying social and constitutional norms.

Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. A great and true quote, but what good is it when Chaos and Corruption have set deep roots into the systems of our country.?

Till we hold ourselves to a higher standard and put those who destroy us accountable, not much will change for the better. :(

Weren't you the one who said not to talk about politics?

I'm more scared about the military grad cops killing innocent people with little to no repercussions

I dont understand this obsession with 9/11 it was sad many people died but seriously.. dont you think it's time to move on? I definitely did when I was a kid.

Our government has killed so many innocent people during these stupid pointless wars

This day is special and I am not talking about policy but about how people act. The fact we are longer remotely unified like we were then is a sad and telling thing.

Also 9/11 was our Pearl Harbor. I was in high school when it happened.

I was a child and got over it pretty quickly

Our military has killed so many innocent people during these pointless wars then they did on this day

5353624
And that's the difference you don't really know that time

5353700
I was like 4 or 5 when it happened

5353806
then you can't get it. too young.

When I see that kind of crimes they do, like what happened with George Floyd, I'm left wondering where the heck went the values as civilians?

5353589
That's because the foolish corrupt politicians keep making excuses to keep our soldiers overseas in the middle east and in Asia. Granted we can leave the middle east we don't need too be there but China on the other hand is willing to invade our Asian allies in Japan Hong Hong Taiwan, south Korea etc.

I may have been born five years after it happened, but watching the recordings of what happened and everyone who was killed, I have a revered respect for everything regarding 9/11. I have an extreme empathetic ability, and I can't begin to imagine what it's like to be part of a whole country that fell into a depressive state from something like this. I can barely manage my own sadness. Sure, I can feel the pain, but it would feel more real if I had experienced it.

I have deep apologies for an entire country who may never see my face. And that's okay.
