My Movie Review on Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension (Plus, a Bonus) · 3:22pm Sep 11th, 2020

Yo, what's up, Kemosabes?

This is your friendly film, TV show, and episode reporter here with another review.

Today, I'm gonna give you guys my take of "Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension".

Here's the rundown of this adventure:

It's the fifth anniversary of when Phineas and Ferb adopted Perry the platypus as a pet. To celebrate the occasion, the two boys create two platypults (catapults that resemble platypuses) and a giant shuttlecock to play a giant badminton game.

However, while riding the giant shuttlecock, Phineas and Ferb accidentally crash into the building of Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. There, the three of them meet for the very first time and work together to create an Other-Dimension-Inator, a machine that can enable others to travel to different dimensions. All of this is much to the shock of Perry, who has to keep his identity as an animal secret agent from being revealed to the boys.

When Phineas, Ferb, and Heinz finally finish the Other-Dimension-Inator, they, along with Perry, find themselves in an alternate reality. One where the Tri-State Area is ruled by a more evil Doofenshmirtz, where Perry is a cyborg, and so much more.

Meanwhile, Candace worries that she's not mature or grown up enough when she learns that her boyfriend, Jeremy, is looking for a college to go to.

After I reviewed "Phineas and Ferb: Christmas Vacation" last year, I became all-in for analyzing more individual installments of the Phineas and Ferb franchise. I just needed to find the right time to do so, and this movie was the installment I decided to analyze next.

The first time I saw "Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension" was when it first aired on Disney Channel, and I loved it ever since then. When I saw it recently via Disney+, I found this movie to be as enjoyable as I remembered it being.

For instance, the direction by Dan Povenmire and Robert F. Hughes, and the screenplay by Povenmire, Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, and John Colton Barry, were all awesomely well-done. They not only captured the spirit of the show perfectly, but they took everything to a cinematic level that made the movie instantly compelling. The humor that they incorporated throughout the film was hilarious and marvelously executed, with each joke landing with remarkable timing and having undeniable innocence. The filmmakers also gave the movie a lovably large amount of heart and emotion, and there were great morals to live by as well. Along with that, they helped the film to not only be something to please fans of the show but gave it opportunities to be something for newcomers to start with.

One of my favorite aspects of this movie was the further exploration on the relationship between Perry and the boys. Everyday, Perry had to leave his family in order to thwart Doofenshmirtz from succeeding in his schemes, and he's had to conceal his identity so that he wouldn't be forced to move away from them. Here, we not only get to see what happens when the boys discover Perry's secret, but the friendship between Perry and his owners is put to the ultimate test.

The animation of this movie was amazing, if I may add. Even though this was clearly made for television, everything about the animation felt incredibly cinematic and groundbreaking. The animators made great use of whatever budget they had, and they kept the overall visualization on the same level as the show while also being able to expand on it.

The music by Danny Jacob was marvelous too. I love how emotionally gripping he made the score, and the new songs that were created for the movie were fun to listen to and carried tremendous heart. If I were to pick what my favorite song from the movie was, it'd be "Everything's Better with Perry".

Finally, the vocal performances, characters, and character development were incredible. The alternate parallels of each character featured were extraordinarily well-thought and mind-blowing, and the interactions between them and their prime-dimension counterparts were fun to watch. Plus, the performers portraying both the prime and alternate versions of their characters did an awesome job portraying their parts, particularly because they sounded like they were having loads of fun having the opportunity to stretch their talents. The characters themselves had dynamic development throughout the film.

In conclusion, "Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension" is one of the best films based on a TV series that I've ever watched, and one of the greatest made-for-television films of all time! I'm awfully glad to have made my analysis of it, that's for sure.

So, I rate "Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension" a solid five out of five stars.

As a special bonus, I'd like to show you guys my latest masterpiece:

This painting is an original that I made myself not too long ago. Unlike most of my other works, this was done on a special flat block made for creating an art piece with.

So, what do you guys think? Of my review? And of my painting?

I love this movie since I was younger because it brought new developments instead of repeating the same formula as the previous installments.

What’d you think of my art piece?

I'm surprised you didn't bring up the resemblances between this and the Avengers film. To wit:
-red-headed secret agent girl.
-main character gets brainwashed into serving the villain.
-the entire finale fight. There's an Iron Man proxy, a stand-in for the gigantic flying fish, the portal from which the villain's forces are flowing...

And this thing came before the Avengers film, just pointing that out.

I'm no art critic, but that painting didn't age well.

I loved this special so much. It's like anything with Phineas and Ferb in it is just instant fun.

I loved the movie as well. The painting is good, too. Hey, do you think you could review Steven Universe: The Movie, sometime? That would be awesome.

Very much in agreeance here. Love that movie. Idk if you take requests, but if you do, Firefly and Serenity, if you haven't yet.
