Does anybody think that I should quit the fandom? · 1:32am Jul 26th, 2020
I'm sorry to say this. It's not anybody's fault. It's just that I'm in a bit of a depressive state. I don't want to project my feelings onto others or manipulate anybody when I say this, but I've made a lot of mistakes and screw-ups today and I don't think that I'm ever going to improve no matter what I do, because I personally think that all I ever do is mess things up and ruin others' lives. You don't have to feel bad for me or anything. I just need your opinion on whether I should or shouldn't quit the fandom entirely.
If yes, then I understand. If no, I also understand. You don't say why, I just want to know if I should or shouldn't.
The reason I'm asking this is because, (and again, it's nobody's fault and it may sound petty), I've made a bad OC named Odium, I keep bothering people about him and his story, and whenever I try to improve or explain the choices I've made, it's never good enough.
Anyway, sorry for getting too emotional and possibly even petty and manipulative if it looks that's the case. I promise you that it's not and I'm sorry if I made you think that. Have a great day and enjoy the fandom.
I think saying you’ve “ruined others live” is a bit of a stretch - I am quite certain that nothing you’ve done has gone that far my dude. If you’ve been getting backlash for posting about your O.C. then at the very most whoever is giving you the backlash is likely just a bit tired of the same thing over and over. But again, that’s not “life ruining” or anything.
(K, back to the original question!) If you have good friends in this fandom whom you talk to often and enjoy their company, I would say don’t be too hasty to leave. Friends + people we trust are often the ones who help us out of discouragement and help lift our spirits. But spending time w/ your family or non-internet friends can help with that too.
Maybe a break would be the best idea? That way you can see if you feel better without the internet or better with it. Hopefully that helped some.
And, if you don’t mind my asking, what makes you say Odium is bad?

Thanks, DawnOfSnow. Also, they weren't doing it to be mean, but I was told that Odium didn't have a point, he doesn't have any likable attributes, and he has no reason for being or for a story as it is. Again, they're not saying that to be mean or anything. They did give me an example of a good version of these points.

Ah, see? Even if you consider those good points, it’s not your opinion, it’s someone else’s. And you shouldn’t let how someone feels about your creation affect how you feel about it. Because if you make a character that perfectly appeases everyone but you, what was the point? The most important thing about something of yours is that it’s yours. If you love the story and the backstory you’ve created for Odium run with it. Don't let the opinions of others change what you love into something you don’t.
Oh, when I say “run with it” I mean, like, sooner rather than later. Don’t feel like you have to wait until it’s perfect to start writing his story. Because, truthfully, nothing is perfect. And your story will be at its absolute best if you - not anypony else - loves it.
As much as I want to, I can’t make you see how good of a character I think Odium is - only you can make yourself see that, and I sincerely hope you do.
