I am sure most know what happen the other day. Knightly had to do some new rules. The new rules are the best way to handle it. Stay in the middle don't give either side what they want. The issue is here many will start screaming SJW or you're giving the NAZI's too much or the other side too much. It's sad that we can't just have a simple conversation about this.
I know for some folks stuff like this makes them very upset. But at least they're not going the path of Blizzard or other companies and not pleasing anyone. The fact that most people just screamed NAZI! and then others did stories to try counter this story. Even though I never even knew who this pony was or cared. I didn't care until I learned more about it. More of the issue here people are very sensitive on both sides at the moment. I think the biggest issue right now is this. We need to all sit-down and stop going they're Far-right they're far left.
Or they're nazis they're racist so forth. It's gotten so silly as of late. Yes, there are real racist. Yes, there are real nazis out there. There are SJWs that have Highjacked the SJW movement I am friends with a real SJW with what is going on right now. She would say that they don't represent the real fight. She would say they're using this movement to get rid of what they hate.
That is the issue some movements get highjacked like some folks think the Brony fandom got Highjacked by Nazis or so forth. But truthfully? I am a non-brony and I don't see any of this. I know many might not like me saying this. But the brony fandom gets very easily upset when articles about them are out.
I think right now people need to relax. Not go after Knightly for his choice. It's the best choice he could have done. He didn't cave to the SJWS or the far-right like I have seen some say. He has done a normal everyday thing a brit would do. Now, remember everyone I want a calm debate if one comes up. No insulting each other over this. I understand emotions take over. I honestly think that it's far too easy for one side or another to take something out of proportion. And I'm okay with rules, just as long as those rules are applied equally and not unjustly used against one user in particular.

I'm a bit relieved. I still don't like it, but the way he sounds is that he doesn't like the decision either, but it's a necessary evil to stop both sides from fighting. I guess we will have to wait and see. I just hope these new rules will really be used sparingly and to hit both sides, not just one

I feel fully people will never know. It's more that some allow emotions to fully take control. When emotions take control their logic and judgment are poor. It's a sad thing really but they're not bad people. They just need to take a breath and allow people to explain themselves. It's always best to sit and talk. In my state, there has been protesting. But All groups that support whoever are calm and collected.
They don't wish to cause problems here because of course, the normal average person wouldn't allow it. They don't care as long as you don't get in their way to work or get in their way here. If you get in their way then they consider you a problem. But that is normal in Wyoming.

I agree with you that talking is always the best approach. However, there are two problems in the current context:
1. The first is that one side doesn't want to talk. They say it clearly in their blogs - you're with us, or you're a nazi/fascist/whatever. I think you agree that calling someone a nazi/fascist just because he is against censorship, is hardly a good conversation starter...
2. The second problem is that there are things in life that are, and always will be evil and should be called as such. Even when - or maybe especially when - they're being used for allegedly 'noble' cause.
Compromise is a good thing, but when someone comes up to you and demands that you start acting in a way he sees fit, or else 'he and his homies will bust you up,' he isn't seeking compromise. He is seeking submission. Those who know history understand where this leads to...
I realize that the 'silent majority' doesn't really care all that much one way or the other. Someone reading my above statements may have an urge to facepalm and call me crazy for exaggerating. I've heard people who are tired with the drama, saying:

When you see a bunch of people calling for censorship, shunning, shaming, or other violence (internet or real) against those whose only crime is that disagrees with them, it's a time to take a stance and say: 'STOP! This is wrong!' Even if you support their current goal, you should say it out loud that you don't support their methods.
If you don't... not much will change. The world will keep on spinning. But this place may turn into another Twitter, with mobs of self-righteous people running around, terrorizing anyone who disagrees with them. To once again quote Narrative Style and his dark scenario vision of what can happen:

Heh with me I just go with the flow. I have learned years ago not to complain. Since I used to be like the left protest and all that. Then joined the right did the same you get nowhere . So I went neutral and I have never been so calm. So I simply watch and observe and try to debate.
