    Leaving Tracks: Nine Years

I'm a few days late. Happy ninth anniversary to "Inner Strength", and to the rebirth of my passion as an author.

Bout time for an update, eh?

Not a big enough update to qualify for Rabbit Tracks, but this is just to say: Work is continueing on "Just a Pony", albeit slowly. Two more chapters down, then I got sidetracked by videogames, now I'm sidetracked by homework and sickness, and then hopefully back to "Just a Pony" soon!

    Irony

I tried to write a blog about how I haven't been able to write. I accidentally hit ctrl+r and refreshed the page, losing everything I had written. A cruel bit of irony. I am tired and angry with myself and scared for my future as a writer and I do not have the energy to retype it, so pretend there is some sincere and heartfelt explanation here and you're moved by the struggles of some weird

Pictures should be fixed across all stories

At this point if anyone is seeing broken images in my fics on Fimfiction please let me know! For anyone looking for a new image hosting site with Discord having done the Big Suck, I used Postimages and it was rather simple and efficient.

    Image hosting

Real quick, I know my images are all borked again; what are folks using for image hosting these days? Needs to be free and the less likely it is to implode the better... I was using Discord until just recently which is why this mess happened lmao

So “Thicker Than Water” is coming to a close soon! It’s been great publishing this story, and the response from dedicated readers has been very good, but all good things and all that. There are only three chapters left to go, so I thought I’d share what’s coming up after it’s done.

I’ve got three stories coming out in the coming months. Two shorter ones and one novel, all part of “Who We Become”, and all finally moving forward with the series timeline (sort of, but I’m getting to that). So if there are any readers who held off on reading “In Pieces” and “Piece by Piece” until after “Thicker Than Water” was finished, well, read those before you read anything after them. In addition, probably don’t read this blog post because it’s spoilery for those stories.

First up is a story called “The Open Road”, which will be published on August 2. It’s a more lighthearted story set after “Piece by Piece”. Following the announcement of their secret marriage to Sunset, public reaction is mixed and that’s a little overwhelming for our wives. So they decide to take Spike and go where no one knows them, and plans escalate until they wind up going on a whole road trip in the human world! The story will be six chapters, and will mostly involve them just experiencing things as humans (which is relatively new to Fluttershy, at least). This story was directly inspired by a series of ink drawings Pasu did years ago, one of which is being used as the cover, which I’ll show here:

Following that story’s completion, I’ll be posting a story titled “The Setting Sun” which I’m sure you’ll be amazed to know is about Sunset. That’ll be out on September 13. It actually starts earlier than any other WWB story and ends some time not long after “The Open Road”, so it spans quite a long time period (but it should be read after “The Open Road”, to be clear; the earlier parts are meant to be read with an understanding of these characters with the goal being to present ponies you know in a different light).

The story will be about Sunset’s parents, who have briefly appeared in “Looking Glass” and “Finding Home”. Sunset has previously stated that no one knows why they decided to have a foal, and this story answers that. It’s a high drama story about an unhappy marriage and raising a foal under those circumstances, and why they did it. It does not seek to justify, merely to explain. It’s six chapters long, and it’s my favorite shorter WWB fic. The cover was again done by Pasu, and is below:

Finally after these two shorter stories, I’ll have another longer one out on October 25. It’s called Acts of Love, and it’s about the next major step in TwiShySet’s relationship. No cover art because I don’t have it, and because it’s a little early to share too many details right now. I’ll not be surprised if you figure out what it’s about from just this, but I’ll say nothing more :raritywink:
