I can see one of two things happening in a story concerning an image like this.
1) The Midnight/dark forms of each character (see image for general reference) become separate beings akin to what i have seen in a few Midnight Sparkle fanfics with her becoming Sci-Twi's sister.
2) They each become corrupted and go mad akin to what happened in canon with Sci-Twi in the Friendship Games movie.
The latter with the caveats of Midnight Sparkle resurfacing and giving the uncorrupted, still sane individual help to stop and revert those suffering from corruption and madness, and Midnight Sparkle actively shielding Sci-Twi from the corrupting influence... Whatever that may be....

Honestly, with either idea, or anything concerning this image really, i feel like everyone besides Midnight Sparkle should be given unique names and designs.

I actually can think of names... Though i would need help with art for designs....

The names i have off the top of my head are as follows:

Rarity = Vanity
Rainbow Dash = Spectrum Gale
Sunset Shimmer = Solar Eclipse (bite me, had to rework this slightly to get it to work)
