Finding a Nugget · 8:50am Jun 7th, 2020

A lot of people compare life to a river... you see it all the time in books, movies, television ect. Sometimes life can turn into rapids, when you’re run ragged and can’t fight the current or float sometimes you sink.. you drown. Other times the water you find yourself in may be cold and unwelcoming... in my profession/life we always tell people to “hunt the good stuff”... I like to think of those moments/people/things in our life that make us smile, laugh or keep us going as nuggets of gold/silver that we manage to find in our river.

My job has been having us work shifts around the clock before the sun rises and after it sets and yesterday I was feeling pretty shitty... I was in terrible pain, exhausted, hungry, car acting funny and another shift the next day. Despite all that and as silly as it sounds the thing that cheered me up after my shift feeling horrible was a total stranger working the security gate... they were kind and welcoming and they brightened my day... they gave me a nugget. As small as it was it made the water less cold on the way home. The river of life can be messy... most of the time we may only have dirt, mud, rocks, and slime that hit us but... those little moments, things that bring a smile to your face... that bring you happiness even if it’s brief those can be more valuable than gold.

I know a lot of people are struggling... they may be having a rough time or facing some of their own demons at home... to those who are I hope that you find your own nuggets.

Sorry for the long post... though I’m sure not many will see it.. or may even care.. I don’t think anyone will really see this. But if you do I hope you find a nugget today. And if you want to share a moment where you found one let me know or comment if you’d like.

Until next time, Cheers!
