I'm back! Again!

Hey, long time no see. It's been an interesting three years, to say the least. Coming to the end of my degree, figuring out some rather key bits about my identity, and a more or less constant existential crisis between now and my last activity on this site, there's been a lot that's contributed to my total lack of communication.

But, I'm back, and hopefully for a long time barring anything terrible. So, to the meat of this blog post: I am going to be resuming at least one of my stories. Let's go over them in order:

Will 'Of Vampires and Werewolves' continue? - No. Despite (inexplicably) being my second most-read story, that will remain firmly cancelled. The story rode in on a wave of Octavia/Vinyl popularity, but my crack at it was unmitigated trash. That said, the fact that my first ever foray into this fandom had an overall positive reception and is still (even more inexplicable) getting new views is encouraging at least. But, it's not a story I have any interest in finishing. I don't even really remember what the plot was, so... Yeah. No more of that series.

Will 'A World Apart' continue? - Maybe. It is certainly my most popular series, pretty well recieved judging by the like/dislike ratio, so there's potential there. I still have some idea of where to take the story, so there's also a direction to take it. I'm just not motivated at the moment to continue it, but I'm not abandoning the idea either. We'll just have to wait and see, I am unfortunately at the mercy of my muse.

Will 'Ode to a Monster' continue? - Yes, definitely! Currently the existing chapters are being rewritten and rereleased to account for a number of changes. The first is removing the character of Storm Chaser. He was a bit of a bland character who existed solely to add drama to an already dramatic situation, so... He's gone. The second is lowering the scale of Rainbow Dash's transformation while also maintaining the possibility of future changes. In the original version, she was basically transformed entirely and immediately into a dragon-pony hybrid of some kind, but now, well, read and find out! This is the story I'm most exicted about, so stay tuned for that.

Will 'Viva la Vida' continue? - Ah, Viva la Vida. Probably? The meta idea surrounding the story (putting a story to song lyrics) is interesting enough to keep me as a writer invested in the idea, but I'm not sure how well the actual product is turning out. That comibined with fickle inspiration is likely to mean agonisingly slow progress on that front. However, the story does start the ball rolling on other stories like 'Ode to a Monster', so I do definitely want to continue writing. It may have to undergo a re-write and restructure however, and I may have to abandon the idea of chronologically out-of-order chapters that progress in the order of the lyrics. We'll see.

Will I be writing other stories? - Also maybe! The idea of more stories set in what I am (provisionally) calling the Fallian-verse is definitely interesting. Some ideas I have are an 'origins' story for Desert Skies, maybe some notable battles the Order has been involved in.

What's happening right now? - Currently, I'm building up a backlog of rewritten and new chapters for Ode to a Monster so that I can keep a relatively consistent upload schedule going. What that schedule is going to look like, I have no idea yet but I'll be starting at one chapter a week for Ode to a Monster, but this first set of uploads will be the prologue + the first three chapters to get the ball rolling on that. We'll see if I can keep up with that upload schedule, it might slow down once I get past material that needs rewriting and into totally new work.
