First off, I just want to say thank you to everyone that has read and/or favorited my work. Thanks to you, I'm now at 100 followers and while that might not seem like a lot, it makes a world of a difference to me. While I don't write for other people, it makes me proud to know that I have an audience and the positive feedback and constructive criticism only makes me more secure in what I'm doing. As I stated in a previous blog, I'm not going anywhere any time soon so you guys are stuck with me.
Anywhoo, with that bit of self-congratulatory business out of the way, let's get to why you're reading this and why I wrote it. I know some of my stories haven't been updated in a while, especially a couple that I personally really love and want to work on. For one reason of another, I just halted advancement on them and those stories are:
The Reign of Chaos: Discord's Story (On Hiatus): Ah, my very first story on the site. Aside from filling in the gaps on what I think happened in the draconequus' mysterious past, it was a nice opportunity to tell an original story and add to the lore of MLP. I had the majority of the story mapped out; it was just getting from A to B that was the issue. I swear, I will finish it one of these days. Some of the other stories just took precedent, that's all. It's not dead.
The Ballad of the Prince-Formally-Known-As-King-Sombra (Incomplete): Wow, what a mouthful! The follow-up to Shattering a Heart of Darkness, which takes place in an alternate timeline and has zero connection to my head-canon story When Darkness Falls or its sequel The Return of the King, this little slice of life anthology follows Sombra after becoming an alicorn and settling in Ponyville with Twilight Sparkle. As it is a collection of stories rather than a serious, straight-forward narrative, I decided to focus my attention on other works, such as the aforementioned The Return of the King. TROTK is just more interesting to write for me and its version of Sombra is much more darkly complex. Again, this one will be finished one day as well. I'm just not sure when.
Equestria Underground-Book I: Hope Is Magic (On Hiatus): Another alternate universe piece. Imagine, if you will, an Equestria ruled by Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon, where the heroes are villains and vice-versa and a different group of Element Bearers are introduced, ready to rebel against the two tyrants. Sounds neat, right? I think maybe that I bit off more than I could chew with this one. It was envisioned as this huge, three or four book-long epic saga. Unfortunately, that doesn't leave much room for my other projects, some of which are designed to take place in my head-canon universe and thus, the show's as well. I was working on it as a partnership with the amazing Viper Pit, who is just chalk-full of great ideas and a cool guy to work with. The story was originally put on hold due to issues with Viper's computer but now it's just that we're both busy working on other projects. I doubt it's dead, as there's too much potential to just let it die. So for now, consider it temporarily shelved.
Childe Spike in the Chaos Master's Realm (Formally On Hiatus, now Cancelled): Originally a commission, this one is, surprise, another alternate universe tale (what can I say? I enjoy those). Discord has captured the Main Six and taken over Equestria. A teenage Spike journey to defeat him and select six ponies to wield the Elements of Harmony. Honestly, I ran out of steam and good ideas for this one. I was interested in it at first but then found that my heart just wasn't into it. Sorry for anyone that liked it.
The Return of the King and Family Reunion (both Incomplete): Nothing to worry about here. I'm still working on both of them and updates will be posted soon!
Stay groovy, colts and fillies!
Love,
MisterEdd
