Why am I still in this fandom?

    New Universe

I'll be honest. When I first wrote Dance of the Waters, it was meant to be a one shot story. I'd had the cover art since last year, but could never put a story together for it. Let alone what it is now.

And now I have not one, but three stories set in this universe. It's not the worst idea I've ever had granted. But still. This was not something I had expected.

    Story Preview

"The world we knew is gone forever. The dream of Equestria died in the ashes of Canterlot. Our innocence, the thought we could stand against anything, died in the ruins of Manehatten, and in the blood of all those lost in Fillydelphia.

We will rebuild. We can start again. But we will never again be what we could have been.

    The Demon of Mars Update

So as I was writing the next chapter, I came to a conclusion about the story and its future. There will be a sequel to it, one that really begins with the final chapter of this story.

I have to stress though that it will not be posted here. While it will have some elements of Equestria Girls in it, there won't be enough to justify it being here.

    Writer's Block

So, as much as I'd love to update The Hunting Star, the main stumbling block has been hit at this point, as I knew it would.

Namely, which characters to kill off. I have several ideas for ones that I will knock off, but how I would write them is another story. Yes, they will be named characters from the show.

    Future Story Ideas

So now that Another Chance at Life has reached the end of the first arc, I'm a bit stuck on where to go with the main conflict of the story.

Contrary to what I wrote, it was never about Fake Twilight's hiding from Equestria and her eventual meeting with Princess Twilight.

Writer's Block · 8:43pm Feb 28th, 2020

So, as much as I'd love to update The Hunting Star, the main stumbling block has been hit at this point, as I knew it would.

Namely, which characters to kill off. I have several ideas for ones that I will knock off, but how I would write them is another story. Yes, they will be named characters from the show.

I'm also stuck on who dies first, or which I show first. I'm stuck between a certain loudmouth teenage dragon, and some griffon from Griffonstone no one would miss.

The last one would help bring Gilda and a certain future student at the School of Friendship to Ponyville earlier than normal. It sounded cool in my head.

Past that, I'm stuck. So i'm open to any ideas people might have. No OCs please. I already have plans for them.

I think the Predators would prefer a Dragon to a Griffon. They are Sport Hunters after all. So it also makes sense that any ponies they'd kill would be ones who would fight back. (I can't see them killing Fluttershy, but Rainbow Dash definitely.)

Very true. I can see one stupid griffon doing the one thing that will make a Yautja fightback after they leave you alone. Attack them anyway. Weyland made that mistake in Alien vs. Predator, and Scar made him pay for it.

Plus it is an AU, ao I can mess with how Friendship is Magic handled griffons. Not a total redo, but different enough to make them worthwhile to at least look at.

Dragons are a given of course.

If you end up killing off Ember, could you have Torch attack the Predator's ship? That would be epic.

Also, the Changelings if Chrysalis is still in charge. (Or just Chrysalis, since she'd be alone in the Everfree by this time, hell she could probably be used as a Red Herring now that I think of it)

5211423
Cheeselegs is still in charge and fair game. This is between the end of the Friendship Games and season 6's premiere. Ember is safe (I like her too much to kill her off), but other dragons aren't.

5211435
Cheeselegs? Heh, not a fan I take it.

How about a chapter where a wounded Predator ends up in Fluttershy's care.

5211440
Because that is a cheap and weak idea I've seen far too much of (not Predator relared at least, but I digress). There will be interaction with the mane cast of course.

But I will not devolve this into one of those types of stories.

And no, I'm not a fan of Cheeselegs at all. Or changelings at all for that matter.

5211444
Eh, to each their own. Personally I begrudgingly respect her for the same reasons as the Imperium of Man, but I'm not their biggest fan either.

And yeah, I get how 'Fluttershy is even kind to monsters' is a bit of a dead horse at this point(laughs nervously while looking at The Grimdark 6 Vol.2) Hmm, how about Twilight? Dangerous as they are, I could see her helping an injured one (and trying to learn more about it both to determine the reason and because it's a freaking alien)

5211454
The most I would go that far, is Twilight helping by accident. But that would be it, and that would not be for a long while.

That does give me one idea though. One I've not seen before used. As far as I know anyway. But that will wait too.

5211473
Alright, well for a more immediate chapter, I'd say they'd be scouting for the best hunting grounds. So they'd be investigating the various ateas of Equestria for the deadliest game. Which would either be the Changeling Hives, the Dragon Lands, or the Everfree Forest.

You could also spawn a rivalry between the younger hunters and have them argue over which area is more challenging before they split off to find the best trophy and one up each other.

And another idea is to have a dishonorable Yautja who's more interested in killing than hunting as the main antagonist.

5211480
True. Will give those some thought. Not sure if all will apply in the end, but it gives me something to work with.

Will Twilight Under the Sea still continue though when your writer's block is cured? ^^;

5211711
Eventually it will. No idea of when that will be.

5211712
Okie =3

Besides, I'm so pumped for it to go into the EG World X3

I guess I'm a few years late to this, but I'll throw in my 2 cents:

Garble is an obvious target as a dragon that's an asshole victim to die first, and Smolder being his sister could make that very interesting. I would expect also for dragons to be recurring targets, acting as a steady thing going on thruout the story, that would bring things to Equestria proper despite most ponies not being up to snuff.

5211418
Personally, I think FiM really mishandled griffons except for the Gilda/Fluttershy scene, because it neutered their mythological origins. I would recommend making griffons somewhat bigger and known for some of them unscrupulously eating ponies (rip and tear) whenever they think they can get away with it (creating rather strained relations with Equestria), and have some kind of griffon victim who is a renowned pony-hunting outlaw. This could make things quite interesting, with a sort of tension about the heroes being told to head to the shadier griffon lands to try to stop the Yautja early, knowing that the griffons will likely pick off a few of the heroes themselves.

Related to the above, I recommend at any one time having some characters known for fighting ability (like Flash Sentry, Daring Do, and Spitfire) help the mane 6 as things go on, and get killed, replaced by others, every so often. These could basically act as a sort of buffer before any mane 6 potentially need to die.
For the specific characters mentioned, Flash Sentry would make sense as a way to shake Twilight, Daring Do and Spitfire meanwhile would impress on Rainbow that she could die next, particularly if they die in really humiliating ways.

Anyways, I dunno whether this will actually help any at this point. Feel free to message me if you want to brainstorm.
