Want to learn to draw/start to collab · 1:11am Feb 21st, 2020
A lot of ideas go through my head, and they're not all short stories.
Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted to learn how to draw. I've always liked coloring. I used to play with coloring books all the time, and I think I actually got pretty decent at it, but, when it came to drawing, my talent was pretty lacking. Now, that's not to say I've practiced a lot; the most I've ever done was try to redraw Goku and Vegeta when I was eight (only for it to come out as a deformed JoJo). I've never taken a drawing class/lesson in my life.
However, I really want to learn how to draw, now. I feel like this is the year to do it. I've got some small comic ideas, and I really want to do them. I'll still bring you stories, but I want to bring you drawings and comics, too. Heck, I want to start my own manga-esque series!
Of course, if I'm going to learn, maybe I should work with some other experienced creators. Yeah, I think I want to start working with artists and other authors. I think it would be a great way to learn and expand the horizon. I want to become a better author and a good artist, and I think this a good step forward.
That's pretty much it for this one. So, how does one start to learn to draw? Is anyone interested in a collab in the future? Please, let me know!
Re: learning to draw. As someone who dabbles in drawing and comp, one of the best ways to learn is to take a drawing/composition class. If there's a junior college near where you live, they probably offer affordable art classes. Having an instructor to help guide you can be very valuable.
I started just drawing characters from DBZ in middle school. Here’s one of the earliest things I did it’s awful and I hate it now lol- https://www.deviantart.com/lordswiggity/art/Android-17-696473346
Now I’m working on my own comic. Here’s something I did like a year or so ago-

Picking up books, joining a class, that all works but it’s all about just drawing as much as possible. I’ve never officially taken classes either and it makes things feel a lot harder, not really knowing what you have to improve on or what you might be missing. But it’s still a fun process.

Thanks. I think I'll start by practicing a bit on my own and then maybe take a class.
