Resolutions · 3:05pm Jan 4th, 2020
I typically don't do New Year's resolutions, since I am the type that forgets about them about two days after making them.
But in the spirit of the season, I think I'll toss out a couple of resolutions for my writing. Maybe if I have them out in the open, I'll remember them. :)
I'll start with an easy one, so I can feel good about myself for accomplishing one goal, at least:
1.) Keep writing Bean words.
Shouldn't have too much trouble with that one. I am almost done with the next chapter for Preggo Nose, so hopefully I can share some fun bug times with you sometime mid-week.
1.a.) Write Bean sequel.
Long term goal. Preggo Nose still has 7ish chapters to go (maybe, don't hold me to that), so come spring/summer it'll be time for the next book.
1.a.a.) Complete Sequel before publishing it.
This will be a change for me. Since the beginning, I've always written a chapter, had it edited, published it, and them moved on to the next one. For what I have planned in the sequel, however, I feel that I need to have it all done and polished beforehand. Otherwise, there's a risk I'll write myself into a corner and have to Deus Ex Machina myself out of it, and I want to avoid that.
2.) Clean up old chapters
There's still a few chapters towards the end of This Nose - and the whole of Principal Noses - that I never finished cleaning up (ellipsis issues, wrong m-dash, etc.) so I need to do that.
3.) Edit / Fix Celestia as my Witness and A Study in Stones
The EqD prereaders have sent me a list of things that could be improved for both of these, and I really need to fix them up. Stones especially, I've been sitting on that one for a couple of years now.
4.) Work on Who is Pinkie Pie
Not much to say here. Just need to get more of the story written. :)
5.) Start New stories
I have a couple of ideas rattling around that I want to get going on. One involves whispers and hairbrushes, the other one has pony pirates. (Applejack saying "arr" is just too tempting. :)
So! Having said that, let me prioritize everything this way:
1. Preggo Nose
2. Nose sequel
3. Witness and Study in Stones
4. Who is Pinkie
5. Fix This Nose / Principal Noses
6. New stories
7. Harem Nose
Now, I know many of you just cried out when you saw Harem at the bottom. "But I like Harem Noses!" you say, "and I want more!"
(or, "I hate that story. Good riddance," and that's fair too. :)
Truth is, I planned from the start for Harem to be infrequently updated. I'll still crank out a chapter here and there for it, but it's going to be sporadic at best, so don't hold your breath.
So there you have it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go buy a gym membership and then never use it. 
Good resolutions to be sure.
My own is to write a 100 words a night.
Either Greenhill or what have you.

Realistic is a huge part of it. Nothing kills my motivation for any project quite like overestimating and then falling short. A hundred words a day gives you measurable and achievable results, and that's what matters.
More Nose stories? Thats great.

I can roll with these. I'm definitely loving the beanverse so the more the merrier. Can't say much about the other stories yet, I haven't looked into them. Not sure what to think about harem though, that Bean is way different than Bean classic, and though the premise of how the ancient law came to be is similar in both books, it doesn't feel the same. I liked the dynamic that Bean and Shining had in the classic books, and seeing him wanna kill Bean for something that wasn't his fault sucked.

Classic Bean is definitely more popular than Harem Bean, and for good reason. I admit I like Classic Bean the best, which is one reason why he gets high priority.

I mean...to be fair to Shiny he has one outburst and then every time since he’s been with Bean he’s basically been supportive and kind to him and even implied it’s just okay that fates stolen Cadance from him for Bean so...I think it’s okay for Shining to not want to get along with Bean, personally, considering he lost his girlfriend to him. It ain’t Bean’s fault but Shining’s been put in an awful situation and he shouldn’t have to like it or enjoy it, he should be allowed to hate it considering it’s stolen his girlfriend from him. In my opinion anyway.
