State of the Story / Behind the Scenes Peek

    Hey everyone,

I’m writing today to give you a bit of a heads up on what I’ve been doing and what I’m planning to do with the story.

So, as some of you may have noticed, I’ve been posting once a month around the same time of the month. This isn’t merely a coincidence. This has been planned. I’ve made a lot of effort to try and get some form of consistency with my updates again.

    Saturday morning Cartoons

    Hey everyone,

I managed to get some things figured out, and it helped me get a new chapter out faster. So I thought I'd go ahead and release it and give everyone a little Saturday morning treat.

    I hope you enjoy.

As always: Comments, questions, suggestions, or critiques are welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated.

Hindsight's 2020 [ a look back at 2019 ] · 7:40am Jan 1st, 2020

Hi everyone,

It's now January 1, 2020 and, as promised, I just released chapter 53 of Fallout Equestria: Clockwork Precision Recipe for Disaster. I hope you enjoy it.

With 2019 now in the history books, that makes a full year of work on the project down already. And I thought it would be prudent to take a moment to appreciate how far we've come, and what all was accomplished during the previous year.

The first chapter Rude Awakening was released in the early AM of Jan 1, 2019 to a bit of a rocky start and reception. The "drive-by" dislikes were to be expected given that some individuals have a standpoint that the niche is over saturated already. But, I didn't let it daunt me, and continued working on it. Eventually I actually found the practice amusing. Especially when I discovered that at least one individual did it multiple times [ Seeing it. Disliking. Finding it later. Clicking 'dislike' again, thus removing their dislike. And after that clicking the 'dislike' button yet again. ] I mean really, what can you do or say about that other than laugh at their ridiculousness? Personally I'm of the mindset that the world can never have TOO MANY stories, but to each their own.

Since then it's held a rather split field, though it's grown to show mostly positive feedback, which I'm glad there are those who are enjoying it.

It arguably wasn't exactly released during the best time, given the current gen of MLP ended this year as well, which has left a lot of questions about the fandom's future. Though I'm 'late to the game' so to speak, I'm not worried. Where there are fans, the fandom never dies. Look at Firefly, and that had a far shorter span of content than MLP has. And I'm sure, with the will of the fans, the fandom shall endure regardless what officially is done / decided.

On a personal note, as I'm sure most of you are already aware, the Break-in at my place put a serious hitch in my availability for working on the story. I had so much planned I wanted to do, and was working on, and it all got thrown in a blender. But your Quillsy's one tenacious little bookwyrm and wasn't, and didn't, let something like that permanently stop me. While still not at full steam yet, I'm chugging along.

But still, I would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and understanding I received during that particular trial in my life. It certainly made things easier to bear.

Some interesting statistics for Clockwork Precision in 2019
Ended the year with:
272 unique views (a number that kept going up even during long periods of nothing new being released)
3,071 total chapter views
411,178 total words released
Averaged 8.41 views per day
17 likes (60.7% positive)
11 dislikes (39.3%)
Ranked 310 on all of FimFiction.net for total word count. [got there in a year]
Folks have enjoyed it enough that it's found it's way onto 108 bookshelves and 33 people are actively tracking it.

Somehow Clockwork Precision is getting referrals to it via Google (as in people are actually finding it by searching, which blows my mind), Deviant Art, 4chan (Another one that has me curious and confused), and Facebook.

And, currently, with the release of chapter 53 Recipe for Disaster it's broke the top 300 for word count and, as of writing this, currently sits at 278.

So, where to from here?

As far as story goes, I have a lot coming down the pipe, with chapters for the coming weeks already in various stages of polish for release. I'm steadily massaging the story to get it just the way I want it, and I look forward to sharing the finished final chapter with everyone when that time finally comes. So, don't worry, I'm going to be still working on this for the foreseeable future and have no intention on abandoning it. Though I do wonder if I'll be able to finish it with this coming year, even using the whole year. Only time will be able to tell.

Story relatedly, I'm debating on starting to mirror post on a few other venues as well. AO3, Wattpad, a page / blog of my own, etc. If nothing else just to give more chances for it to be discovered by new people. I'm also thinking about starting a Q&A / 'Ask the Characters' segment/ page. But, we'll see. If you have any thoughts on the matter, drop me a message, I'd love to hear about it.

As always, critiques, comments, suggestion, and questions welcome and encouraged!

Happy New Year and stay safe out there everyone!
