What a mess of my work! · 10:37pm Dec 27th, 2019
Oh, I definitely didn't forget about anything. I still pop in and check on stuff. As usual, life comes at you fast. Distractions, depression, cosplay, my best friend's life falling apart overnight (that was nuts), holidays, yadda yadda...
I never did stop writing, and was actually making good progress on the next chapter at one point. I stopped partway through--I think I broke it into an outline of 4 events during what comes in it. I finished-ish the first part, but didn't like it. So I rewrote a substantial part of it. And it didn't really build up to where I wanted it. And then I rewrote part of that part. And then I didn't fill in somewhere.
So, now my chapter has a lot of overlapped, disconnected drafts. The bulk of it, leading up to Event 1, has been edited and proofed. But, it ends on a hastily written note about some more work to be done. And then the next section of drafts is another edited portion that overlaps with Event 1 and some of the preceding writing. And then the NEXT section is entirely the end of Event 1 and isn't written connected to the others at all (and is noted as old work).
sdfhasidhfoashdf (If you saw my notes for the story, you'd wonder how I've even made it this far!)
Anyway. Due to my work schedule (which eats 45-48~ hours of my week on average), I have down time before my shift and while on my lunch. I tend to write a lot. I had it in my mind that I had the next chapter pretty much ready to go for writing, cleaning up, and then posting. And that's exactly what was never the case.
On my old phone was a ton of notes, dialogue, and small parts of scenes for it. And I accidentally erased ALL of it. I thought I'd backed it up with a full copy of all the contents, but my phone was like "nah. It's gone." My new phone has something like 48k characters (doesn't track words) of notes and chapter writing, but said chapters are 2-3 ahead of this one.
So, everything is disorganized, and life is chaotic. I was catching up on a fanfic I was reading and decided to take a break and open up Chapter 58, but it's going to need more work and planning dedicated to its current state. I'm likely going to run with the current version leading to the first "Event" in the chapter, work in the second piece that overlaps, and erase the oldest draft (but probably snag some bits of dialogue from it).
So, like I said. I never stopped writing, but I lazily go long periods without really doing much more than add some notes. The year has definitely been chaotic to top it off. Namely, my best friend's life falling apart, so she has moved in with me to kinda fix that. (A little bit of escapism notwithstanding.)
I'll continue to waste a bunch of time on games, but also to hoard money. I'm trying to attend MomoCon in cosplay, but also move into a new house. I'm already going to be attending Dragon Con 2020.
Damn, hope you're doing well. I'm really looking forward to another chapter, and it's fine to take your time.
5180027 I'm working on it, while also doing my outlines for chapters following it. Trying to set the stage for the grand finales to come.
