Heading towards the end of season 9! (Episodes 18-22) · 1:58am Nov 30th, 2019

She Talks To Angel- Really fun episode and a nice showcase for Fluttershy. Angel's the only pet I've ever given a hang for, (Although I would've given Tirek a standing ovation if he succeeded in blowing that damn owl up!) and he was hilariously trolling here. Almost wish we could get this again! Weird seeing the predator/prey stuff acknowledged in the show. 4 out of 5.

Dragon Dropped- Oh joy, Josh Haber writes again writes the most nuanced character as a caricature! He's like Dave Polsky only not half as funny or creative to make up for it. That said, this wasn't bad, and actually succeeded in giving some laughs and touching moments. Really liked the music during the montage, and Gabby grew on me here. Wish we got to see the convention; Power Ponies are potentially far more interesting than Daring Do. 3 out of 5.

A Horse Shoe-In- Once again Trixie is treated as a buttmonkey who learns nothing and is completely incompetent, SIGH. And since when can she casually teleport stuff long range?! The wink stuff was funny, and at least sh got a hair of redemption standing up for Gallus. (Still second best student six after Smolder.) Hearing those voices on Octavia and Time Turner were weird, and Spoiled Rich was a random choice. Sorry Starlight and Trixie, love you but this episode didn't do you much Justice, mostly reheated leftovers of stuff we've seen done better before. 3 out of 5.

Daring Doubt- This sort of twist needed proper build up and set up. Too many contradictions of past canon, and I'm not sure about redeeming these characters, but I did like She's interactions with the group. Never liked the idea of making Daring Do real to begin with though, so whatever really. 2 and a half out of 5.

Growing Up Is Hard To Do- A solid outing that somehow seems like a huge missed opportunity. I'd be more interested in seeing their older selves interact with Rarity/Applejack/Rainbow Dash or maybe Diamond Tiara/Silver Spoon/Cheerilee. That said, it had some funny moments, especially the train station guy, and a nice song with some neat bits of animation. 3 out of 5.

Mostly a bunch of middle of the road episodes; sadly doubt anything will get full marks from me this season, AKA an all-time favorite. Shaping up to be one of the weakest seasons IMO and to my surprise I actually prefer 6 and 8 so far. Still, a few more chances to turn it around...

She Talks To Angel: Not really much to say, just a generally fun episode

Dragon Dropped: I actually kind of like this episode.

A Horse Shoe-In: For me, this is one of the most fun episodes of the series, and I absolutely love it. Not as much as Student Counsel, or some other Starlight episodes, but it's up there.

Daring Doubt: I'm firmly on the side of this episode making perfect sense when matched with past episodes, and it's my second favorite Daring Do episode behind Stranger than Fanfiction.

Growing Up Is Hard To Do: A lot of fun, and my second favorite group CMC episode of the series.

I don't understand why Starlight would choose Spoiled as a candidate for Vice Headmare. She's like the MLP's version of Kim Kardashian with an unappealing nosejob. I'm just glad she's not qualified. The best part was at the very end where Trixie put Phyllis in the bin, with Starlight saying, "PHYLLIS, NO!!!" :rainbowlaugh:

I look forward to your thoughts on the remaining episodes.

Daring Doubt wasn't anywhere near the trainwreck I feared, but I still feel revelations like that need proper build up and time to stew. But I was never really invested in this plot thread anyhow so no biggie, just a shame it's another meh Dash episode saved more by the Fluttershy side here imo.

Thanks, yeah liked the ending joke! And man, so many typos, not helped by my phone's damn auto correct!

Eh, I kind of liked both aspects of the episode equally.
